Let's be honest, we are going to beat the hell out of Northwestern. They suck, have little depth, and we match up great against them. We should be able to rest the starters most of the 2nd half.

Now, on to MSU. Marble is playing this time, Gesell is back, and I think we are playing great basketball. I'm pumped to play them again in a game that actually means something. When was the last time Iowa basketball played a game that had this much importance? Seems like ages ago.

Agreed. This should be the difference between playing them in early January and after an 18 game Big Ten schedule. We've played 18 football games which should have us ready for the bullies of the Big Ten.

Iowa plays football quite well. It will get down to our strength against theirs. If that can be neutralized then we need good shot selection. That has been an issue.

For the record... I'm pumped to play MSU as well. I believe Michigan to be the 2nd best team in the conference and yesterday was a huge break for us to be able to avoid them.

I started a looking ahead thread right before the game at nebby. I called the hawks finishing 4-1 and like everyone was on cloud nine with the 16 point halftime lead at lincoln. Then thud , down to earth.

I think we should beat NU by 15 but I am taking it one at a time baby.

Don't worry about me. If I got demoralized about Iowa basketball that easy I never would have survived the long span between Mr. Davis and Fran...and I watched all of those years. We could lose by 20 Thursday and it won't be nearly as bad as the end of a Lick season...trying to find a way to get excited about the next Lick season. I'm already excited about next season with Fran and will continue to enjoy this one whether it ends in the Dance or the NIT.

Exactly right there, Lute had a habit of stumbling in the tourneys and against lesser teams.

Alford was like ferentz in having his teams play down or up to their competition.

I think Fran really has a killer instinct like izzo

Also, I honestly think we're going to make a serious run in the BTT. I'm not saying this because it's what we need. I like the way we're playing. I like our depth. I think Olesani and Clemmons are playing with confidence. I think Marble is back. White seemed to take it up a notch last year in the post season. Gesell may play. May is having a great year and it's his last run at it. Basabe is playing very good basketball right now...and with a ton of energy. Woodbury has scored his career high the last 2 games. Oglesby has made more than one 3 this in the month of March...easy now I like Josh. McCabe...hates to lose and could be that guy that suddenly gets hot from the perimeter. I'm actually thinking a little bit about Ohio State and whether someone can knock off Indiana before the championship.

I also fully understand and appreciate the fact that it won't be at all unexpected if we lose to Michigan State on Friday...but thinking that way just isn't as much fun. Thinking about losing to NW...just can't and won't go there until/unless it actually happens.
