Is Wisconsin This Year's Luckiest Team?

4x Buzzer beating 3's? if they just lose 2 of those games I think they are on the outside looking in at this point.

Yes they are. They've had about 10 years worth of luck in one season. I'm sure Penn state, is praying to god they get Wisconsin Thursday in Chicago.

I don't believe in luck when it comes to sports, but yeah Wisc seems to have something going for them. Maybe it Bos karma

You don't believe the ball sometimes bounces your way? See our Orange bowl year. See interference call vs Indiana in football; see ball bouncing left, right, etc for us to go 95 yards against Indiana.
Give Wisky credit for putting themselves in position; however, they almost and probably should have choked that one away today.
Maybe the breaks don't go their way next year.

Good point. We needed to keep more games closer.

I see your sarcasm and taking a shot at what I said but I actually agree with your statement. If Iowa would have kept the game closer early on at Ohio State and Minnesota they could have increased their chances of having some "luck" and winning the games. Just because the ball hasn't bounced Iowa's way this year doesn't mean that keeping those other games close didn't matter.

Yes - they are the anti-Iowa but these things average out over time. Next year we will probably win some of those and someone else will lose them.

Agreed, if you keep putting yourself into position, eventually the ball has to bounce your way.

That was football and 3 years ago.

You could look at basketball and last year then if you don't like the cross sports comparisons: Gatens catching fire, Iowa stringing some games together they probably should not have won. As another poster pointed out, it evens out usually.
I think we caught some breaks and finished a bit above where they should have. This year the opposite has happened.

I don't believe "luck" has anything to do with it. I believe a team or individual puts themselves in a position to get a fortuitous bounce or a fortunate call on occasion. I believe they make their own breaks. Getting lucky has a whole different meaning in my book.

This sounds good in a middle school PE teacher sort of way, but it's pretty silly.

Wisconsin is good enough to play with a lot of teams, they've been lucky enough to have shots fall in the last half minute of those games.

Wikipedia: luck is fortune which occurs beyond ones control, without regard to ones will, intention, or desired result.

No, any team in the SEC, Pac 12, Big 12 that finished lower than third in their conference and get in without winning their conference tournament are by far.

Wisconsin just makes me shake my head, they have gotten their share of breaks this year.

I can tell you this, everyone in the conference was hoping they would get to go through WI toward the Big Ten tourney title. No one is scared of that team.
