Iowa's vs. Minnesota's tourney bid odds as of March 7

You can honestly ask the same question of alot of the other bubble teams, and get a similar answer. Iowa isn't the only team that has struggled on the road.

Yes I agree..... Here is the crux of the issue. The tournament is not designed to get the 68 best teams in. If it was Iowa would be in. I will chose to just go by KenPom rating which would put 8 Big 10 teams in the field of 68.

The bubble has a lot of very similar teams. It's kind of hard to argue one team over another really.

What quality team has Iowa beat away from home?

It's rude to answer a question with a question. Also, I didn't say Iowa has a quality win away from home. I'm not comparing Iowa and Minnesota. I'm saying why Minnesota should not make the tournament when others have them as an absolute lock.

I will play the comparison game just for you. Iowa won at NW. Minnesota lost at NW. There's a game Iowa won that Minnesota could not win. Iowa almost won at Minnesota. Minnesota was crushed at Iowa. There's no way to compare our out of conference schedules. We didn't play their schedule and they didn't play our schedule...no way of knowing how that would have gone so we have to compare apples to apples.

There...I was kind enough to attempt to address your questions/concerns. Will you honestly pick Minnesota to win a 1st round game in the NCAA tournament? Do you think they are a better team than Iowa? I'm not asking what some rating system or talking head says. I want to know your answer.

I think Iowa is more predictable right now. They seem to be less up and down than Minnesota. I think Minnesota has a higher ceiling than Iowa if that makes sense. If Hollins the PG is on they are very dangerous. If Mbakwe is playing well he is an X factor and if Williams is actually healty which he has not been in about 6 games he brings nice things to the table. I could see Minnesota wining a BTT game and winning an NCAA tournament game or two depending on the draw.

They have a lot of talent and when pulled together are very dangerous.

Minnesota has a resume that right now history proves will not be left out. RPI: 20 SOS: 2. Played 20 games against Top 100, with a record of 12-8. They have played 12 games against the Top 50 and went 5-7.

I will be Shocked if Minnesota isn't dancing. SHOCKED!!

Some of that is injury related. Iowa can lose someone and not make a huge dif/ although I think Marble is a huge key right now. Mn loses one of several key people and they really fall.

Thank you! I just wanted your opinion on their potential success in the tournament. The only way (highly unlikely) I will pick them is if they are playing a less talented team that refuses to play a zone. I don't think Minnesota is very good against a zone.

I don't think MN is very good right now, period. Play a zone and watch the tingle down the legs.
Not a player on that team that has any consistency. Maybe 9th year senior lets make trouble with the law every year Mbakwe.

Based on history and the criteria usually applied I agree. They will probably make it. I don't think they are a lock. Their road record, record in their last 10 and potential (didn't say probable) lopsided losses to Purdue and Illinois will not make them a lock IMO.

Lunardi had Minesota as a 10 seed last night. Today they are a 9 seed..
