**Official Don't Stop Believing Thread**

I realize the chances of this happening are about 2%. Yes I realize that we are more than likely going to the NIT. But I refuse to lay over and quit.

Look, I know we have to win out the rest of the way. But take a look at our schedule. I know Purdue and Nebraska beat us already, but we played like crap both games and STILL should have won. Those are definite wins in my mind. Illinois at home I think is a win because of the fact we're at Carver. Indiana is going to be incredibly tough, but we took them down to the wire here. Shock the world there, get a win in the BTT and we are in!

I still beleive that we control our own destiny. It's just that this car is a lot harder to steer.

So come on HawkeyeNation! Join me and Dont Stop Believing!

Do you realize that we have road games remaining? Do you realize that the BIG tourney isn't played at CHA?

I didnt say anywhere we have no more road games. I said Nebraska, Purdue, and Illinois are all at home which is why I think we will win. I also pointed out that I did not think any of this will happen. I am just saying that we shouldnt let not making the NCAAs ruin the whole college basketball season.

23-10 with a win @ Indiana and 2 wins against Wisconsin? Sounds good enough to me. I'm still believing at this point. It'll all be over once we lose to IU and 4 wins in Chicago is our only hope, but until then I'm with RockChalk.

I won't knock your optimism but it is highly unlikely. If you guys beat Indiana I will eat my underwear. Illinois isn't a given either. And lets be honest that **** show against a 1-AA Nebtard team would leave me a non believer at this point if I were a sqwaker fan.

I'll take a midnight train goin' anywhere, and I won't stop believin' until Selection Sunday. What the heck--dreams are free.

I love your optimism, but at this point, nothing short of B1G tourney championship will get us to the dance.

If we beat Purdue, somehow pull off the stunner at Indiana, then finish off Illinois and Nebraska that puts us at 21-10 (10-8) and a win over the #1 team in the nation. All we would have to do is win one in the Big10 Tournament and we would be in. The hype from beating the #1 team in the nation would push us into the tournament. It's not likely but there is a slim chance. If we don't beat Indiana we have to win 4 games in 4 days like the Alford days. Probably the only 2 possibilities of making the tournament at this point.

If we win out, we are in. There is no way the committee takes a 7th place Illinois team over a 6th place Iowa team. Even if we lose to Indiana, if we win the rest of our games, we can still finish ahead of Illinois. At this point, Minnesota would be our only problem. I am not sure how the tiebreaker works exactly, but it looks as though they would have a step ahead of us since they beat Michigan State.

That "Nebtard" team shot 62% from the field in the second half and we were getting mugged in the paint with no whistles. Everything was perfectly stacked against us in the second half of that horribly officiated game.

If the Hawks play at a moderately high level the rest of the way through, they will go 3-1 with a VERY good shot at the tourney.

I wouldn't be so sure. Illinois has a much better OOC wins than Iowa does. Iowa needs to stop playing such a crap non con schedule, that is killing them right now.

I agree with the non conference point. If Iowa wants to be on a bigger stage, they need to stop playing such weak opponents. A close loss to a Duke or Kansas can look better than some wins against high school caliber teams.

I think if Illinois plays like they usually do, they lose to us. All they do is launch errant 3's whether they are down 30 or up 30. They are a very undisciplined team. Illinois has a better non conference schedule, but if we beat them and finish ahead of them in the Big Ten, I just can't see a situation in which they get in over us. We also need to realize that this is an Illinois team that started 2-7 in the Big Ten. Committee members aren't going to forget that.

Close losses are irrelevant,so is where you finish in the standings. Illinois would jump us.

Agree on the Illinois part, they are very up and down if they don't hit the 3. Who know's though the way I see it is Iowa has wayyy to many if's to make the dance at this point.

Yeah. A LOT of if's. But there is still a good chance we make it if we finish strong. A 6th place finish in the Big Ten, and a decent tourney run could get us pretty darn close.

And Illinois has a bad team that shoots a lot of 3's. They are on a bit of a hot streak now but I don't see that lasting long enough to get them to the dance.

Guys, come on. As much as I like the song as we sing it together at Kinnick, it's best for all of us if we stop believing for this year. There are reasons we lost all the close games, there are reasons we lost to nebrasketball after being up 19. The reality is this year we are one player and one year of player experience away from the year we want to have. I fell into the trap after this brief winstreak of thinking it miiiight be this year, but I learned the hard way with that whatever in nebby land. Belief on hold until next year.
