UNI is playing well

UNI has won their last 5 conference games including wins over Creighton and Witchita State. They are currently 9-6 in the Valley and 16-11 overall and they have an RPI in the 60's. They have a good shot at winning their remaining 4 regular season game and heading into the MVC Tourney on a 9 game winning streak. Creighton has been really struggling down the stretch, so UNI looks to have a good shot at winning the MVC tourney.

Selection Sunday could be really interesting to watch if UNI is already automatically in by winning the MVC tourney and Iowa and Iowa State are sitting on the Bubble awaiting their fate.

Getting UNI into the top 50 of the RPI would be huge for Iowa and it could happen. UNI plays Denver this Saturday in a bracket buster game, Denver is in the RPI top 100 so it could be another quality win for them.

UNI has actually been playing pretty well all year. much like iowa, they have been the victim of horrible luck in close games...missed free throws, phantom fouls, garbage buckets by the other team, etc.

things finally turned around for them, as they did for iowa. the schedule lightened up and it became clear that despite an early poor record that they are one of the best teams in the conference.

if they would win out until the MVC finals, they will have a strong enough showing in the various ratings systems to work their way onto the bubble. they are certainly an NIT team. they are currently 57 in BPI, 60-something in kenpom, and low 70's RPI.

also, they have won 6 in a row and are 10-6 in conference.

Any connection to the Oelwein Hustler's and their pizza sales from back in the day? I don't think Mr. Rima even sets foot in his old town anymore. I don't mind him as an announcer, but like you said, his past his not good.

UNI is the hottest team in the conference right now. They've put together a very nice string of wins.
