With all of the rumors swirling around Gabe possibly redshirting next year, the coaching staff must be confident with how Meyer is progressing. I just can't imagine that they would redshirt Gabe if they didn't think Meyer could, at the very least, provide what Gabe is providing right now. From what we know about Meyer, he will definitely be more versatile than Gabe and has a ton more basketball experience. It will be a drop off in athleticism, but not a complete drop-off by any means. Also, he will be a matchup nightmare when playing center. He can hit it from 3, which means whoever is defending him can't sag back in the lane. Also, he has good enough handles to get by most post players with the dribble. Should be interesting to see how things unfold.

I really hope you're kidding. Brommer was a good teammate but he wasn't that good. I hope that Kyle Meyer is alot better than Brommer ever was. If not, it is a waste of a scholarship.

I suspect it's a combination of Uthoff, Meyer and Jok which would allow us to redshirt Gabe.

Fran has stated that one of the reasons they didn't redshirt Olesani last year was Brommer hurt his leg/knee before the season started last year, and they felt they couldn't affort to redshirt him. I think Brommer would of had a great year if he wouldn't of hurt his leg. Anyway, the leg injury hindered him for quite awhile.

Don't get me wrong I am glad Brommer was a hawkeye but let's all hope that Meyer is better than Brommer.
