Ladyhawks leading #18 Purdue by nine poiints in the second half at Purdue.....

I don't follow them close, but it seems like they can't handle the pressure of being ranked. When ranked, they go on losing streaks or for 2 and 3s and then after dropping out tend to right the ship. And it seems like this isn't the only season this has happened. But that's just an impression over the last handful of seasons.

Without looking, I believe the Hawkeyes are 7-0 vs ranked teams and you're correct. They weren't ranked when any of those games were played...their problem was they couldn't win a game for what seemed like a month, after finally being ranked themselves...not to mention, they do things like lose to Michigan in CHA when UM isn't ranked, then go into Ann Arbor and knock them off at their place when Michigan cracked the rankings...

It's cool AND frustrating...

6-1, actually. For some reason, people were saying the were 6-0 when they were actually 5-0 against ranked teams. Then they lost to #8 Penn State on Thursday.

But, to Spank's point: Yes, all of Iowa's ranked wins came when they were unranked. They FINALLY made the polls and promptly went on the 4-game losing streak.

With the way this team has played, they're going to get a bad seed in the dance, but they'll make a run. They're a team nobody's going to want to play, kind of like Gonzaga was when they knocked Iowa out two years ago.

Thanks, TM...I had just now realized I forgot about the PSU game earlier this week and came to correct it. (Thanks Keith Murphy ) anyway...they're still also saying 7-1...who's the team people mistakenly say was ranked? And is it just a case of "which poll" you look at?

Talking with the DI's copy editor, we concluded it just depends on which poll you look at. The AP says 7-1, ESPN said 6-1.
