Chris Kingsbury vs UConn Video

My favorite random part of this game is when Jess Settles quickly inbounds the ball after a made UConn hoop while standing about 5 feet in bounds and none of the refs calls it.

Effortless shot...never seen a guy shoot from as deep as kingsbury does as effortlessly as he did. I think if he was in college today some nba team would find a spot for him because he could be a 3 pt specialist in today's nba.

man, i've been looking for Kingsbury clips for a long time. couldn't find anything, not even brief highlights. anyone know what he's doing nowadays? was my favorite player growing up. hoping he's done well in life.

DM Reg ran a story on him a couple years ago. At that time he was a big shot at a bank in Nebraska.

Just was watching this. Miss them days. Kingsbury was an absolute sniper.

November 24, 1995. UConn vs Iowa Hawkeyes - The Kingsbury Game - YouTube

What made him so entertaining was you never knew what he was going to do next.

That Iowa team had some bruisers on it. Kingsbury, Settles, Millard, Woolridge.....

I seem to remember that he shot like 297 three point shots in 30 games making 39%.. Just insane amount of shot attemps and one heck of a percentage made considering how many of those 3 point shots were just terrible shots.

Kingsbury never took a terrible shot

I can't recall anyone pulling up from 30 consistently like he did. Pregame warmups he would just stand a step in from half court with a rack of balls and net. Was fun to watch.

Anyone know why he didn't come back for his senior yr? Did he just get bad info on the nba draft or was there another reason?

Not sure if it was bad info or what but he left for the NBA and ended up playing overseas.

Kingsbury and fellow Hawkeye Jess Settles were early entrants in the 1996 NBA draft. Neither was drafted. Settles went back to Iowa and then sat out the next year with back problems. Kingsbury was drafted 62nd in the CBA draft, eight spots ahead of Indiana big man Todd Lindeman.

Funny, he only shot 31% on 3's his junior year. That's a lot lower than I would have guessed and not much better than Oglesby, who gets so much crap, while Kingsbury is revered.

Watching him chuck long threes was annoying until they went in.

Thanks for the video... what's amazing is that Ray Allen is still playing in the NBA. If only Chris would have had something more together.

Still amazing is Ryan Bowen played 10 years in the NBA... did anyone from U Conn?

Millard, Settles and Murray.... great, at times... Iowa players and coulda, woulda, shoulda, NBA ballers and the only one on the court who got drafted was JR Koch.

Millard was drafted as well.

You right, my bad... but Andre Woolridge wasn't and never played a game in the NBA.

Really amazing considering he led the Big Ten in scoring and assists his senior year. Is he the only player ever to do that?

Try as we might, we could never quite rub that Nebraska stench completely off of him....

finally got to watch this. thanks for the post. i would have torn my hair out if i was Mr. Davis. yes, he took many "terrible" shots, but the dude sure had the confidence. we really, really lack that right now as a ball team.
