what year do you think jok becomes a starter at iowa?

I'm far from a troll, I went to Iowa and have season basketball and football tickets. I have nothing against him but I follow the other school in the state as well and they have two top 100 4* kids coming in and they don't talk about them half as much as we talk about Jok. People start threads about when a guy that had one BCS offer is going to crack the starting lineup...either there's that big of talent gap between them and us or the kid is getting overhyped. Either way it's played out

If you aren't a troll, you are the most negative person in the world when it comes to Iowa basketball and Peter Jok.

F.Y.I. you just joined in Dec 2012. I don't know if you came here before then but I remember this place going nuts over Woody and Gesell so clearly you just have an issue with Peter Jok for some reason or you are in fact a troll.

For obvious reasons, Gesell and Woodbury were highly touted recruits. I'm not trying to be negative towards Jok I'm just saying nobody wanted the kid so people need to stop talking about him being the next Michael Jordan. He was, at one point years ago, considered a top recruit in the class by Van Coleman. Van Coleman is the same guy that said Uthoff would be the perfect fit for Iowa next year to replace White since White would declare after this year. Take it for what its worth, I guess you can drink the koolaid if you want but I'll wait until the kid proves himself before I worry how and when we're gonna get him on the court

Van Coleman contributes to NY2LA? News to me.

People clearly pointed out when you posted your thread about Peter Jok before, two years ago he was considered a top 25 nationally ranked player in the class of '13. He had two knee injuries and he has struggled to recover.

Clearly you don't like that answer or you are too focused on "offer lists" to actually realize he has top level talent.

F.Y.I. he was invited to the McDonalds All-America game. That should help you understand.

To say that no one wanted him is imprecise. Yes, no other major schools offered him a scholarship for the fall signing period; however, it has been widely reported that many major-conference schools were telling him that they wanted to see him play this year and would strongly consider offering him after evaluating him this winter. Fran had the major advantage of being able to evaluate him at some fall practices and camps--events that other coaches weren't able to attend--and decided he was willing to offer Jok for the fall signing period.

He was invited to the McDonalds All-American game? Haha I'd love to see the link for that

He was nominated, as are a couple dozen players from Iowa and several hundred players from around the country each year, but rosters for the game won't be announced until February 14.

@HawkeyeReport tweeted he was nominated for the game. I am trying to find it, since my work place blocks twitter it makes it extremely difficult.

Haha I'd love for you to stop being such a d-bag but we all don't get what we want do we?

Big diff from being nominated and being invited there Dave, any coach can nominate any of their players it's just filling out a form...at least know what you're talking about before you start throwing out FYI's

You 2 should know this sort of thing is hard on the kids and often leads to divorce.

I apologize, that is my bad, I should have clarified "NOMINATED" for you.

But it still doesn't matter that the fact you don't like Peter Jok. You ran your mouth on here about his lack of offers. People tried to explain to you but you didn't care to listen obviously or you would let it go. Clearly you don't follow recruiting or this message board very much to come on here and compare the amount of discussion and hype towards Peter Jok compared to Gesell and Woody.

I get it, you like to "talk Iowa sports because you went there" but you clearly don't actually follow them that well if you don't understand all the talk about Peter Jok.

SLAM ONLINE | » McDonald’s All American Games Announces 2013 Nominations & Ticket Sales

More than 800 players from 39 states and the District of Columbia were nominated for the 2013 McDonald’s All American Games. Texas boasts the highest number of nominees (80), followed by Oklahoma (73), Iowa (60), California (59) and Virginia (44). Players were nominated by high school coaches, athletic directors, principals and members of the McDonald’s All American Games Selection Committee. The complete list of nominees is available at Home :: McDonald.

Basically a lot of states get players "nominated" however only a select few make the game. I mean I think there is a zero percent chance Jok makes the game. Woodburry was like the 7th rated center in his class last year and did not get named to a roster for the McDonalds game.

I have no idea what to expect from Jok and only time will tell. I know when he was very young he was highly rated but a lot of kids get passed up by others just due to natural things like growth and what not. Jok was injured at the prime time to be noticed. Had he stayed healthy I have no idea if more major teams would have been after him.

I like his size and lenght and he has basketball skills. I think he should be a solid player but I am not sure if he will be a game changer.

I'm sorry my personal view on talent comes from head coaches offering scholarships to players instead of people on message boards telling me how good he once was or how good he is...but now that i have found out he's been NOMINATED for the Mcdonals All American game along with 24 other players from the state, including a kid from Ames that average under 2 points per game, I'm really sold on him being top level talent. Hope we can find a way to get him in the starting lineup next year with that being said

I think there's actually a better than 0% chance he gets selected for the game. He's got a pretty compelling human-interest story, so I could ESPN pushing for him to make the game. He isn't as heralded as many players, but he wouldn't be out of place at the McDonald's game. 25+ ppg and 50/40/90 shooting is pretty impressive at the 4A high school level.

That is fine that your "personal view" is to judge a player who has had two serious knee injuries in his young career which many, many coaches have said that wanted to evaluate him as Jumper pointed out. Instead you just go on with your personal view and bashing this kid at any chance you can get.

Good for you big man, bash a 17 year old kid who had knee injuries that cost him many high end scholarship offers.
