Does Iowa get a player on the All-Freshman team?

Interesting thought: May's the only scholarship senior who'll be gone next year. Unless someone else leaves and Fran gives a late scholarship, will Iowa have a freshman on the roster next year? I assume Uthoff comes in as a sophomore. Hopefully by then the program will have players in consideration for all-conference.

Peter Jok and Kyle Meyer will be a redshirt freshman.

Then who is going to be the token player on a bad team that gets a spot this year? Look at the all-freshman roster you put together yourself. All 5 of those guys were top 100 recruits. 3 of them were top 25. Is Hammonds your "token player"?

I just listed the best five freshman, if I had to guess about the token player I would say maybe Shavon Shields or Tre Demps, replacing one of the Michigan guys. It's too early to call.

We are starting three freshman.

Michigan State, Ohio State, etc., 3-5 years ago didn't get their freshmen tons of time. Guys like May did get tons of time, and thus put up better numbers.

But look around. Wisconsin is leaning on freshmen much more heavily than they've had to in the past. Ohio State Michigan is pulling in one and done caliber freshmen. So is Indiana. Those kind of players play right away, period.

Iowa's freshmen this year are not as good as the top teams'. That doesn't mean they won't end up being good players, but guys like Robinson are better than Clemmons/Gesell/Woody.

Iowa got the token spot several years ago, only to see those guys get surpassed by players in their class who got less time due to who was playing ahead of them. You'd look around and wonder who else had the stats to take May's spot, and there weren't many, if any choices.

But today, there's no room for a token spot because there are a lot more good freshmen playing right away this year. A number of the guys who will be getting snubbed this year would have been no-brainers in most years.

If Shields makes it, that would be an example of what you're describing. I have decided to call it the "Eric May Effect".

So Chris kingsbury? Height? Position?

So Chris kingsbury? Height? Position?

Hold on here...do not, do not compare him to Chris Kingsbury. Chris Kingsbury could handle his alcohol. He could handle your alcohol as well, it's when he went beyond that when he got in trouble. Meyer probably had a couple of beer bongs and a few shots and passed out in a bathroom. Kingsbury would drink that before games. Maybe he couldn't always handle his 15th pitcher of the night, but comparing Meyer to Kingsbury is an insult to anyone who is a Hawkeye fan or a fan of alcohol.

Amen brother. Meyer couldn't handle Kingsbury's half-court shot or his half-quart shots.

There's a Frank Gehry-designed building @ teh South Po'?? Totes kewl. Dude has his work everywhar.

Amazing how all the hype about Woodbury has faded into the woodwork only a handful of games into Conference play.

What hype most people had him averaging less the 7ppg/5rpg/1bpg

Not sure what you were reading, he will be an excellent player for Iowa and I am still thankful that he is a Hawkeye.

Back to the original question: if Iowa does get one on there, it will be Gesell, but it will be tough.

Not sure I really want to see one on there, given some recent history, minus White.
