really no way the ref could see that - also they like to call people for stepping on the baseline when they really can't see it either.
He not only got run over but an elbow or knew to the ribs. That was alot of physical activity in mid court for no foul to be called.
The anticipation whistle is terrible as is the assumed whistle. I reffed a long time ago and I was guilty of the seldom assumed whistle especially when a player would really whack down with his arm to block a shot. It is so easy to see all that motion and hear what might be a slap on all ball and think contact was made.
Oh by the way was it the same ref who just loved to call palming/carrying the ball in that game?
just like when people complain about a late whistle - late whistles are quite often better calls.
