From article:

His latest triumph was his most impressive. Clark captured the UNI Open title on Dec. 8 with a 6-1 win over fifth-ranked Jesse Delgado, who was ranked as high as second nationally at the time. The win provided clarity to where he stood against the country’s best.

“It means a lot coming from the perspective I don’t know where I stand against the top-ranked college guys,â€￾ said Clark, who is expected to be seeded higher than nine ranked wrestlers. “I wrestle with McDonough quite often, but against other guys and feeling different styles of wrestling from the better guys in the country it feels good to know I can compete with anybody, I think.â€￾

bright future. good to know we won't have a dropoff when McD is gone.
Well there will be a drop off. Clark is a stud, however McD is an elite wrestler that doesnt come around very often. Matt will probably be a 4 time finalist which few have done. We will know a lot more about Clark after the Midlands. Cant wait! Best of Luck to Cory, Gilman, Brooks, Meyer and Dennis.

oh, for sure. i probably should have said "steep dropoff". i'm just glad that we already have a stud in place at that weight.

There will be no drop off next year. Clark is a stud and almost as good as McD. After a full year of wrestling and getting better in the wrestling room there is no doubt he will be better than McD.

sloooow down sparky. to say there is 'no doubt' he will be better than McD is laughable. and honestly unless he wins 4 national titles, no way to prove it either. and last time i checked, not many guys have won 4 titles.

I went to school with Cory's parents and graduated/wrestled with his Dad in high school. Looking for forward to his time at Iowa. His main competition may be in the Iowa wrestling room, as him getting the 125 varsity spot is no given with Thomas Gillman in the room!

If Clarke can take mcd to the final seconds in wrestle offs as a true freshman and beat the number two msn in the country I would say there shouldn't be much of a drop off at all. There is no way that's laughable

Yes when you have the history we have. I'm not a huge fan but I got some tix and sat down on the floor with the team a year ago at a big meet and it was kind of cool.

Interesting. So he's def not as good as mcd then. Not now at least. Mcd doesn't lose twice at midlands I wouldn't think. Thanks for updates.

I never said that. i think he'll be in the running for a national title for sure next year. The statement that "there is no doubt he will be better than McD" at this point, is laughable. to say there is no doubt a kid who has yet to wrestle a varsity match will be better than a probably 4 time finalist and 3x champ is just stupid. lets just slow down is all i'm saying.
