Sonnen vs. Olaseni (Stormin' vs. Herby)

Who is correct? Where does most of the responsibility go to? Herby claims that Olaseni came in and fueled a charge that increased the Iowa lead because of his great play. Stormin' claims that the lead increase coincided more with Sonnen coming out of the game because of fouls. Who you going with here?

I tend to side with Stormin'. I do believe that Olaseni played better than I would have expected but I have to give the edge to a team losing one of their best players over a player who rarely plays playing above his average. I also have to look at the second half when Woodbury got into foul trouble. If Fran thought Olaseni was the reason behind the surge in the 1st half why wouldn't he go back to him? Instead he goes to Zach McCabe.

Gabe played ok but he was not great. The kid has upside but he will most likely be a back up his whole career. By the time he is a Junior or more likely a Senior I hope he can give the type of game that McCabe gave us. But he will do it like McCabe did on a surprising note because we don't expect it...it won't be the norm. We don't expect a great game from McCabe night in and night out because that isn't his role and that is how Gabe will be during his whole career.

I think it was a little of both. Have to say that the jump shot he took was pretty. He has seemed much more comfortable the last couple games. If he can stay in his comfort level I think this guy will surprise many people.

Woodbury, went out with 2 fouls in the 1st HALF
I really don't give a ****, but the facts are what they are and you can't change them and Woodbury only played 9 minutes the lowest minute total of all the Players
Olaseni had 15 minutes, 11 minutes and 12 minutes of playing time
in that time he had
18 pts, 14 rbds, 7 blk and 0 TO's
but according to some they were nothing but garbage minutes and stats because a player got in foul trouble, like Woodbury going out with foul trouble has nothing to do with what Olseni did against UNI

I want to understand your post...where are you getting 18/14/7 from out of one game?

We all know you love Gabe and that is really great, he provided some valuable minutes when Woodbury was in foul trouble. Oglesby hit two big 3's and May/McCabe didn't play in a negative manner. How to you only attribute what Gabe did to turn the tide as really, I feel Gesell hitting early and May coming in for Clemmons and playing solid defense were more of an impact on the game.

It was a team effort and Gabe was part of that, applaud the young man. Keep in mind that if you are looking at what Sonnen didn't do, look at Marble and May for shutting him down. You want to look at a key stretch, how about Marble hitting a 3, blocking two shots and getting an assist in four possessions.

There were a lot of players that stepped up yesterday, not just one or two players changed the game.

Woodbury played less minutes than Ingram?

those were the stats of his last three games
woodbury had 2 fouls in the 1st half , and had a total of 9 minutes in the game, so what was UNI's excuse , or is Sonnen a Future #1 pick that UNI can't win without, and Sonnen is a guard and was UNI'S 5TH leading scorer on their team. boy he really made a Huge difference in the game with his 9.4 ppg.
OMG he would have single handedly beat Iowa by himself if not for him getting into early foul trouble
thx for clearing that up, as he defenitely was a HUGE loss

he was not needed, each player has a role on this team, and Fran will go 10-11 deep thruout the seasonm and will not trim his lineup to 7-8 for the BT season. as for my knowledge of BB its none of your damn business.

Seems like he would be much better on D if he blocks the baseline and doesn't let the opponent go around, but he is getting better and better. Comfortable is the word......

:)

I am one who consider you to have much more knowledge of basketball than you are given credit for, Red......

Mike G's opening threes were huge. It is so much easier when he is on, even though he does so many other things, especially on the free throw line at crunch time. He is Money......

:D
