You know what is cool about this program now, among other things?

I was watching BJ, Roy, Ed and Co. on BTN last year. I was a senior at Iowa that year 25 years ago and actually went to the first two games of the NCAA Tourney in Tucson. Boy that was fun. Anyway, I was watching the next game v Oklahoma and I just loved how Iowa would inbound the ball and have it over half court with 32 seconds left on the shot clock on so many possessions. I really have missed that sort of game more than I thought. Now we do the exact same thing with this team and will be going forward.

THAT is SO cool. I love watching these guys even if they don't win, as long as they don't get drilled by 20, because you can see the pieces fitting into place as the talent gets turned over and the new young talent is maturing.

So many people were writing McCabe off as a any kind of contributor and I think many did the same thing with Marble. Man, we re they wrong. And with the infusion of even more high caliber talent next year, this is fun again. I can't wait to see what the 2013 class looks like.

You're not the only one. That is the only style of basketball I enjoy, and I really missed it too.

It's really not hard to get it over halfcourt in 13 seconds.

13? college shot clock is 35 seconds...isn't it?

I agree about the style of play being so much more watchable than licks.
Even in defeat vs IU, it was better losing 103-89 than 49-35. It is supposed to be entertainment, after all.

The marriage of George Ravelings recruits, and Mr. Davis's style was made in heaven.
Then, the Raveling recruits graduated and Mr. Davis just never seemed to get the kind of athletes,en masse, that he needed to replicate 1987.

I am really hoping that Fran can do both. Play fast, and get the kind of athletes that can flourish playing fast. I think he can. I am hoping that Gesell,Clemmons, and Ingram are athletic enough to push the pace without straining.

The 2013-2014 season has to be Fran's 1987. With a roster of McCabe,Mel,Marble,White,Oglesby,Gabe,Woody,Gesell,Meyer,Ingram,Clemmons, and hopefully two very athletic long wing guys, it is a roster that should allow Fran to play 100mph/40 minutes, like in 1987.
It is dangerous to point to a single year as make or break, but Fran needs to find a way to get that group to the NCAA tourny, and then maybe make a surprise run to Sweet Sixteen or better.

But, for today, I will be satisfied with sweeping the Gooofers.
Already swept Michigan for the season.
Next: sweep the Badgers.
Then: sweep the Nits
Also: sweep the Kitty-cats.

Ok, getting a bit carried away..I know.
