Yesterday

I don't think there are a lot of positives on yesterday's game. It's like we have been here before. Iowa has a great season and we wait for them to make the next step and plop! They fall on their face! Once again failing to make that next step. Iowa can't put together good seasons back to back. We have seen Michigan State do it. Wisconsin does it. Saturday made Iowa look bad nationally. Losing to an FCS team while ranked #13 in the country. And once again recruiting suffers.

The offensive and defensive lines were atrocious yesterday. They let a FCS team dictate at home the game. All the pre-season hype was just that, hype. Both of Iowa's defensive tackles got blown out repeatedly. And as for the offensive line, the excuse that a couple of starters were out doesn't work. There isn't that big a drop off in talent to explain what happened. We can point fingers all over the field, but it all comes down to coaching. Iowa has one of the highest paid coaching staffs in the country and the were out coached. Flat out. Can't even dispute that. They are good coaches, but this week they showed that they mailed it in so to speak.

On to Rutgers. Now we will really see what kind of team we have. How do they respond? This will be interesting. Not what we wanted to see but it is the reality of the game we love.

Kirk always gets out coached on Saturdays. Every few years he builds up a team good enough to overcome that more often than not. This year might be like '09 and it might be like '10. It's 50/50.

:(I seen him coming toward me today at church. I've know him for 15 yrs, nice guy and not cocky for being an Alabama fan. "What happened to Iowa yesterday? That was a terrible game. Must have been something in the air as my team didn't look particularly impressive either as we gave up a lot of points. Iowa just looked sick though, and the play calling was worse than sick."

I didn't know what to say. I guess I could have mentioned how highly ranked our coach's salary is. Lol. Sad that some think his salary should not come with expectations. I can't get away with that in my profession.

I get evaluated every year and if I don't maintain expectations I will be terminated. I get paid fairly well but it is very stressful. I am sure many of you are held accountable to meet expectations also. Why couldn't Barta be my supervisor. Of course given what I do that could mean some of you and your children could experience a very unfortunate and untimely death. Must be nice to be able to not be accountable for four and half million dollars a year....... Eh Kirk?

Thought I would cool down a little today but am so fed up with this coaching staff and yet we are stuck with them. Been a HAWKEYE since I Was five years old.

What does it take? We have the ingredients to be amongst the best in the sport. Excellent facilities, an adoring fan base, Excellence in education, highly paid salaries for the coaches.

Maybe I should take up basket weaving. They offer that course to the Ohio State football players. I am not making that up. Back in the day when Special K was their All American linebacker at Ohio State that was one of the classes he was taking to maintain an acceptable grade point. Lol

What am I laughing at? They're Nation champs on occasion and conference champs most years.

I am not laughing anymore. :(
