Yeah, another pile on Iowa basketball thread

I noticed early on in the game vs. Minnesota that Iowa was reverting to bad (for winning) habits. All Iowa players took shots while they were guarded. Maybe kudos need to go to Minnesota's defense. Iowa doesn't have a lot of athletic talent and when, in basketball, inferior athletic talent tries to perform in the face of better athletic talent the better usually wins.

Iowa needs to go back to more designed plays. Make that extra pass to find the open man and then shoot the ball when open. Quit trying to maneuver against an opponent you can't out maneuver or out muscle.

If you have 3-4 guys on the court who are scared to shoot, it doesn't do much good to run plays for them.

We played with a low basketball IQ and as individuals rather than as a team...the opposite of the last 2 games. A good example is the fact that Olaseni was 1-2 and Uhl was 1-4...and Olaseni played twice as many minutes. I'm pretty sure the game plan didn't call for Uhl to take 4 quick shots and for Olaseni to only get 2 shots the entire game.

Members of the whole team were guilty of taking some bad shots. Some tried to shoot in 1 against 2 or 3 situations. Others tried to shoot when they weren't open. Hey, Iowa has just a handful of players that are truly gifted and the ball has to get to the truly gifted/or truly open. I don't understand it. Some players put up shots they have to know don't have a good chance of going in but they still proceed?
