Yankees and long games.

Did anybody see the Twins and Yankees last night? Petitte came out and took his eight warm up tosses. Then the catcher has a little discussion with him to seem to stall and then Girardi calls in Rivera from the pen to close it out. Shouldn't have the Yankees been forced to have Pettite throw to at least one hitter?
The Yankees must get away with this stuff all the time. On average their games are the longest in the majors. Especially any series with the BoSox.

If MLB wants to shorten games, there should be penalties or fines for moves like that.

First off, it's baseball. If you say pitchers can only have 5 warm-up pitches instead of eight, if you can only have so many mound visits in a game, if you don't let batters step out of the box and call time, it will only take 15 minutes off of the total time of the game. Who cares if games are really long, you aren't a baseball fan if you try to cut time out of games. Last night when pettite was warming up and they took him out, it was probably that he didn't think he could go another inning and the yankees weren't sure if Rivera could come in for his second save of the day. It was probably a last minute decision.

I hate the Yankee's but it isn't like they are the first team to have a pitcher come out and take his warm up tosses then have the catcher stall and go to the pen.

But yes their games seem to last forever and I'm not sure there is anything MLB can do but the umpires need to speed up their games along with everyone, does a batter really need to adjust his gloves after ever freaking pitch, that pisses me off when they step out to do that.
