Wyoming, North Texas added to the 2017 Non-con

Read the article and while I understand the logic behind the scheduling of games, I couldn't help but laugh at Barta's comment that Iowa's scheduling is "pretty aggressive". Just not sure I'd used that term to describe the teams we see on a yearly basis in the OOC schedule.

Agree Kicker, but Iowa would have struggled with Wyoming the last few years. Lets hope KF 3.0 lasts longer than 3 years.

Both schools have a good coaching staff and have improved. They will be a tough W in a few years. NT almost took town Georgia this year. McCarney will always give Iowa a tough game. The competition is certainly going to be more talented than the directional Michigan schools that have won in Kinnick recently.

That and the 2014 schedule sucks with two byes in October.

The byes in the schedule are hardly the AD's fault as every school is trying to work around all the conference realignments. When these teams change conferences what once was a set schedule gets totally messed up and an a potential open spot.

It's also not going to be fun to wait a month in between home games (from ISU to Indiana), but that's how it worked out. Can't complain too much about it.

Overall, I would say the home schedule looks pretty attractive... Especially if we're a good team. Black Friday in Kinnick to decide a trip to Indy?

Exactly. ISU, NW, IU, Wis, and Neb as home games suck? No. That is an attractive home slate.

I do hate it when we have a bye in October since that is one of the greatest months for outdoor football!

I apologize for insulting North Texas and Wyoming but G5 teams need to be limited to only 1 team in a 12 game schedule.

a typical 12 game schedule should be 9 conference games, + Iowa State, + another P5 team, + 1 G5 tean. No FCS teams.

The biggest looming trap is North Dakota State in 2016, the week after the clones. Has upset written all over it (providing that the coaching change in Fargo doesn't result in a program drop off). Made a college visit there with my daughter last fall and they already have that one circled on their calendar.

Now was this calendar carved into the paint on a bathroom stall or in the students union? Just curious how serious we should take this news? Scary to think someone there is circling a date so far in advance, its only 2014!! I need the source and location of this calendar you saw... Thanks.

Sounds a bit silly perhaps. But they take their football seriously at NDSU. (3 consecutive National Championships will do that to you). The guy in the admissions office named every D1 program they have coming up on their schedule. Clearly he uses it to recruit.

They had just beaten K State @ Manhattan the weekend before we visited, beat Colorado St in 2012, the Goophs in 2011 and Kansas in 2010. Take em lightly and you'll end up embarrassed and beaten by a pretty good FCS team. Guess where they open this fall? .... @ ISU

Iowa schedules more aggressively than most BCS teams. Research what other teams do.

This is never ever going to happen. No team in the country plays one non-BCS team per year. NONE. Very very few ever have a schedule with two non-BCS teams, I'm not even sure that happens.

I think Wyoming is better than say Ball State, for recruiting because it's in an area Iowa doesn't recruit in often. North Texas is good because of its location and because of coach Mac. I hope he is still there then.
