Would You Rather Have a Season Like>>>>>>

the Hawks or the Bugeaters? After watching Wisky totally dismantle the Bugeaters I started to think. On one hand Hawks season sucked but they really didn't get too embarrassed well Michigan may have been a slight embarrassing moment but nothing like getting your Arrss kicked by close to FIFTY on the national scope like this was? As much as this year sucked I really think I'd take the Hawks because at least I don't have to pretend my team is good and try to make excuses for why my defense just got blown off the field. Just thought I'd post and see what others thought about this.

It's better to get walloped in the conference championship than to be embarrassed at home by a directional school.

Ok, so I maybe off my rocker but seriously think about how you would feel after that game. I remember feeling like crap after leaving Joe Robbie, Land Shark, Sun Life whatever stadium name it was after the Hawks lost to USC in the Orange bowl and that was't even close to this kind of a crap showing from NEB.

That was kind of my point with this post I'd rather know the disappointment is coming then just get blown up like NEB did. That was fun to watch.

Nebraska's season wasn't that painful. They knew they weren't that good and it showed when they played OSU. Northwestern wins the award for most painful season with a 9-3 record with epic late meltdowns against Nebraska and Michigan and the horrible late swing against Penn State. Those seasons where you are in every game and lose close in the end sting way worse than finishing with the blowout losses that Nebraska had. You always think about how just one or two plays would have changed those close games and when you're sitting there watching the defense choke away another close one or the offense just go into stall mode late in the 4th quarter when you still have a chance to win it really, really sucks. See, e.g. Iowa circa 2008 or the 2009 games against the Cats and in C-bus. Those hurt way, way worse than the 2 losses in 2004 (at ASU and in AA) because there was no way were going to win those games.

Exactly. Being on the receiving end of an epic beatdown doesn't saddle one with constant second guessing. Choking away winnable games is what brings on the insomnia.

Generally agree, but Nebraska had to see this as a winnable game going into it since they had already defeated Wisconsin.

OK Farmer like you've never had a brain fart on here Really??

I'm not saying I never had. But I've never had to ask if anyone would prefer to go 4-8 compared to winning 10 games, going to the cap one bowl in florida in january even if it meant getting blown out in the B1G champ game. Iowa got smoked by Penn State and that game was just as embarrassing, but instead of still going to a bowl game we just had to watch Iowa suck the rest of the year and stay home. So yeah, when it's that blatant I think you should get a mocking photo thrown into your thread.

I don't see it that way Farmer. I'd rather have a bunch of rake your lawn Saturdays as you mentioned after the Penn ST game then pay a ton of cash to follow my team all year and watch them be utterly embarrassed on the field like that. I guess we just look at it differently and we can agree to disagree. I really thought others would think this way I guess I'm way off base. I guess that is the Cub fan coming out in me. Put me out of my misery early.

Suck for 1 day or for the whole year.... hmmmm.

Rather suck for the whole year because if we had been in that game, I would have shelled out coin to go and had my travel agent line up my Pasadena tickets. Losing is one thing, but losing when you have expecations is about 1000x worse. See, e.g. 2010 Iowa Hawkeyes football team.

Yep that's what I'm getting at I shelled out $6000.00 to go to the Orange bowl to see the Hawks lay an egg against USC.

I remember feeling like crap after Iowa lost twice in 2009. Maybe it would have been better if they'd just lost all of their games that year.

Well I guess we have the man for the job in KF. Keep expectations low so when we succeed every 10 years he gets a contract extension. You all have your man for the job!
