Would the NIT be a Disappointing Finish?

Yes because I can finally see the light at the end of the tunnel.

No because I knew coming into this season that we were still going to be a year away from having the experience I think its going to take to win this league.

Not disappointed in the team but disappointed for the team.

As for me, I want to keep watching this team play. I'd fear that IF by some miracle (or couple wins in the BTT) Hawks get a bid, it will be like a 12 or 13 seed and an embarrassing 1 & done.

Otoh, I think they are legitimately good enough to win a couple against NIT competition, maybe even get to NY. As a fan, I'd enjoy that a lot more.

Next year, I will be VERY disappointed if they don't get a bid.

If Iowa was in the NCAA Tournament this year, I don't think they'd get far, but I think they're good enough to win a game, maybe two, depending on seeding & matchups. IMO there isn't a drastic difference between teams seeded 7-10 or so in the NCAA's, and higher seeded NIT teams. But if Iowa ends up in the NIT and makes a deep run (or wins the whole tournament), I would certainly enjoy that as well.

But the NCAA is what it's all about - I'd take that in a heartbeat, even if they lost in the first round. Just having the Hawks in it again, and having the excitement of looking forward to tipoff of their 1st round game, is a feeling none of us have had in a long time.

Yes because right now worst case scenario is NIT (basically). Whenever worst case scenario happens its disappointing.
No because other then 3 20 minute stretches, this team has been more exciting to watch then any team in many years.

Ask me after the end of the regular season. Until then I'm just going to hope for a 4-1 finish and winning a couple of games in the BTT.

I could see the Hawks finishing 3-2 and getting a tough match-up in round two of the BTT and getting left out of the tournament. However, if that happened, they would be a highly ranked NIT team and get a few more home games on the schedule. I think the fan base would turn out, which would carry over to next year, and it would be an opportunity for more player development for the young players.

Wouldn't be very surprising for this team to make a run all the way to MSG.

Would it be a good experience for the team to go travel somewhere to play a game in front of a mostly empty arena in the middle of a Thursday? Sure. But, I don't think it would be a tragedy if they got to play three games at a packed CHA either.

The disappointing thing would be the fact that I would have to figure out what network is showing NIT games, likely having to DVR them, etc.

If we make The Dance as a 8-seed to-10-seed and go out in first round, that is--IMO--infinitely better than an NIT "run". Even winning the NIT, while certainly exciting, is STILL not The Dance.

I wouldn't be disappointed in the team. Just disappointed because we all want this so bad. Those 4 close ones will haunt us until our next dance appearance.
