Would KF have let Tim Dwight return punts?

Serious question.

I don't believe TD had "great" hands.

And he was fearless.

And took risks.

And he was fast. Very fast. Not your typical possession-type returner.

God forbid we use that position as a weapon.

I say "NO".

NO. He was on sound off this weekend and was carefully picking his words when asked what was wrong with the team?

I missed that.

Interesting or awkward or both?

He was honest but guarded. Did say the college football lacked imagination on the offensive side. Said teams need to stretch the field. Stayed on the company line so to speak not saying Hawks need to but spoke in generalities.

Question is would Hayden use he and Banks to their full potential. When did Banks start playing? And why didn't Dwight get the ball more? All that talent and not the all time leader in any catergory?

Regardless of the answer, the fact that this question is even being asked, and it's not ridiculous, says everything that needs to be said about the head clown...I mean coach.

Banks had almost 70 touches as a true freshman, 60 touches as a sophomore (in only 6 games), then had very productive junior and senior seasons with 155 and 264 touches respectively. For the first three years he was playing behind a very productive back in Sedrick Shaw, but we still found him a way to get him the ball a little bit.

I think Dwight could have seen the ball more, but unfortunately he came to Iowa when we already had a stable of RB's. Didn't he score about 1,000 TD's at City High in HS? I think his move to WR was to get him on the field, but I'm not sure he was a natural WR. His biggest asset was his sheer athletic ability/explosiveness. To me that's why he isn't an all-time leader...

Running between the tackles wasn't exactly TB strong suit. The majority of his big runs came off tackle. Was open on the wheel route that Sherman tried to force to TD that got picked in that final drive against Michigan.

As for TD the route tree was limited to vertical routes and out routes mixed in with the occasional reverse and punt/KO return duty. TD probably needed to be used like Rocket Ismail, but the Iowa-O wasn't designed that way.
