Woody and Olaseni key tonight

The bigs performance against Indiana tonight will be the key to the game in my opinion. I think it's pretty obvious Indiana has the advantage at the guard positions. Iowa has the advantage down low. If Iowa wants to come out of Bloomington with the W then Woody, Olaseni, White, and Uthoff will have to win it for them. The Hawks need to dominate the glass to earn more scoring opportunities because I highly doubt they'll be able to match Indiana's scoring unless they earn more chances. Iowa's length is their biggest advantage in this game.

Anything the guards can add will be a bonus, but I'm not expecting much because they'll be using so much energy on defense.

Indiana isn't even good. Not terrible like most of the BoneG teams but definitely not good. Should be Iowa by double digits even if Woodbury pokes out a guys eye and Olesani passively carresses an Indiana players butt.

They put up 90 against Minnesota, and they've proven they can be incredibly dangerous offensively if they get into a rhythm. I agree that Iowa should and can win by double digits, but it's on Indiana's home court and if they get hot they are tough to stop. Iowa has the size advantage, but Indiana has elite shooters. Plus Yogi is always capable of a huge game.

Agreed, need to make Indiana pay inside when they go small. Indiana actually puts up decent rebounding numbers but they've been terrible inside on defense, we can't settle for jumpers against them. It's a great chance to pick up a top 50 road win and keep improving our NCAA tournament seed.

Indiana has 1 big ten loss at home this year, and they shoot a ton of 3's. Its all about containing Ferrell and Blackmon

Both teams basically lock themselves for the NCAA tournament with a win. Pretty big game

Indiana's only lost at home once in the B1G this season. They are coming off 8 days of rest while Iowa will be playing it's third game in the same span of time. Vegas has Indiana favored and this is 2 teams with identical records. Fresh legs and home court matter in hoops, it will be an incredible win if Iowa can find a way to win this one, I don't expect it.

By 2 and a half, we're ranked significantly higher in both KenPom and Sagarin. This is basically a toss up. It's a real good win if we get it, and it doesn't really hurt us if we lose.

I expect to see Coach Fran mixing up defenses to make IU take a little time to get into their offense. It can be huge to force them into late shot clock shots, get the rebound and fast break.

But as the OP said, getting great shots inside and shooting a high % is huge.

Iowa is 18-1 this season when scoring more than 63 points. We'll see if that holds true tonight.

* Indiana - worst scoring defense in the league to date.

Indiana attempts around 23 three pointers a game to Iowa's 17

Indiana is making 41% of those to Iowa's 34%...we need to pound the rock inside, get to the line and beat'em that way...

They honestly reminds me of an overrated Big 12 team that chucks the ball from 3 and hopes it goes in or that their bigs can get the rebound.

Absolutely, that's when is Iowa is really playing to their strengths. It gets White going and puts points on the board. Indiana is a shooting team so on ball defense will be key in forcing Indiana into rushed and contended shots. Iowa's guards need to feed the post early and often, whether it's Woody, Gabe, Uthoff or White. They all have decent match ups inside.

Indiana is a middle of the pack B1G team and would be middle of the pack in the Big12. Indiana >>>>> Kansas st, Tech, TCU, Texas, and Okie St

Well (1st half wise) Gabe has had trouble finishing. Woody has a couple buckets. JU has knocked down some shots. White looking good.

No disrespect to Woody but this team play at another level when Gabe is on the court..

We seem to "finish" better with Woody on the court, but Gabe "cleans up" a ton better than Woody.

Woody was solid tonight, Gabe, in spite of some "finish" problems, was VERY solid.

Game actually turned on our making them work for shots outside. In spite of a few lapses, we contained their guards very well. Ferrell is impossible to shut down completely, but we definitely mitigated his effectiveness.
