Kaminsky (7-0) - 55.7 - 74.4 - 42.1

Dukan (6-9) - 47.7 - 83.3 - 36.0
Koenig (6-3) - 48.8 - 75.0 - 35.0

Edit - Average 75 ppg which seems high for Bo...could lead to a more favorable tempo.

Defend the 3. Don't foul...except Decker which is a bit of a surprise to me. Control the boards. Pound it inside on offense...Kaminsky prefers to play on the perimeter and getting a couple early fouls on him helps our cause.

Fans - Don't panic. With those 3 point shooting percentages they will make some runs. Remember the old live by the 3 die by the 3. We just have to make them take uncomfortable 3s...deeper than they prefer and contested by our length.

Any thoughts on who might draw the matchup with Decker?

Basabe is listed as 6'7" 220 but Dekker seems like a tough matchup for him.
White is 6'9" 220 but I'm not sure I like him on Dekker either.

Marble gives up an inch and 20 pounds but I like him manning up with Dekker. I think Dekker is more guard like and a soft 220 and Marble can still match up with him.

We've heard Fran say that if he wants to get to the next level he needs to improve his D. Let's see it here. Go out and shut down their best offensive player.

I'm not sure what we will do. I think we could see Marble, White and Uthoff on him at different times during the game. It probably depends on which team has to adjust.

If they're hitting 3s then White, Uthoff and Basabe could be our primary bigs in this game to match up better with their smaller perimeter players. If they can't stop us inside then we use Gabe and Woody as well and exploit the size advantage. Which team has to adjust will probably dictate the match ups IMO. I think we can beat them with either approach.

That's a good question. I think when it's our starters vs theirs it has to be Basabe. IF, it is Marble, who does Basabe guard? Gasser? I think we are better off playing a zone with both starting lineups on the floor.

White has really impressed me with his improved defense this year. A truly remarkable improvement from his FR year.

I like him on Dekker. I think he will take it as a real challenge.

Iowa has a good bench, but Wisconsin has probably one of their deepest teams in some time. The guys coming off the bench can score. Hayes/Koening are really good freshman that have been bigger contributors than I think some would have thought to this point.

Match-ups in this game are really intriguing.

Iowa's 6 bench guys which routinely play average 43.1 points and 19.6 rebounds per game. Wisconsin's 3 bench guys which routinely play average 14.2 and 5.6 respectively. It does jump up to 15.9 and 6.3 if Bohannon is tossed in there. No comparison. Uthoff alone averages 10.9 and 6.5.

Don't mistake my observation. Wisconsin normally goes 8-9 guys deep, I just think this year the talent drop off for them is not as significant as in recent memory. Iowa has a "better" bench and overall great depth and it favors the Hawks.

I agree that they have some talent on their bench. I read your post and decided to do some research to see where the numbers landed. I was actually surprised that they really have very little coming off the bench as it relates to scoring and rebounding.

We all talk about Iowa's 11 man rotation, depth, etc. But even those of us that really follow this stuff take for granted the scoring on our bench. A lot of teams can bring in 2 to 4 players than can defend and get the occasional basket to give the starters a breather...but those teams are in trouble if they need extended minutes or scoring out of the bench. Iowa can pull 6 guys off the bench and still have scoring, rebounding, explosiveness, a team that can press, a team than can defend in the half court and finally a team that can play the last 4 minutes of a game against most teams starters and still have a very good chance at getting Iowa the win...IMO.

Totally agree with you. I think the two Wisconsin freshman will be key in the game. I am surprised by Hayes, he is a local kid, who must have had a slight attitude adjustment. He and his family tried to get their HS coach fired for being racist, a big witch hunt when all was said and done with.

Most teams today are in trouble when having to get extended minutes and go into severe scoring droughts, Iowa used to be in that scenario even with starters...lol. I think this game hinges upon Iowa not having significant droughts, or if they do, Wisconsin doesn't go on a run. Unfortunately, I don't think that will happen based on a few things I have seen in conference officiating so far.

Another key to this game, IMO, is the rotation...will it be free substitution, or will it be a bit restricted if players are playing well? I like that Iowa has so many options and if a guy is off, another can come in and step up, but playing an opponent that is really good, will it shrink a bit?
