Wisconsin= QB Rental U

Several rumors out there that Dayne Crist from Notre Dame is looking to transfer to Wisconsin in time for the 2nd semester. He is going to graduate from Notre Dame this month and would be eligible to play right away, just like the Russell Wilson situation this year.

Is the QB situation at Wisky that sad that they need to "recruit" a QB who got benched multiple times at ND and has had some knee injuries?

Just because he's transferring doesn't automatically mean he will start. Let's not be naive, Russell Wilson was a five star transfer and it worked out for Wisconsin. Christ will have an opportunity but he's no Wilson.

That one doesn't scare me as much as the Wilson one did. It's fine by me. If they keep getting 1 year guys, most won't have as much talent and it will keep their QB recruiting in the balance a bit (they did get 4* Houston this year). It doesn't bother me, although it is stupid in a sense as this is amateur football and not free agency in the NFL.

Yes, I was wondering what they were going to do for next year because they would have been screwed without Wilson this year, I don't know what freshman they have coming in but probably not someone they really want to start from day one.

I wonder if Ball will stay or declare for the draft?

They must desperately be trying to bridge a recruiting gap..

They've got Budmayr from '09 and Brennan from '10.. and no one from last year.

Curt Phillips from '08 (but isn't Budmayr considered 2nd on the Depth Chart?)

They've got Bart Houston coming in this year..

It's not hard to see where their problems might be going forward.

If they are going to burn a scholly for a one year player at a position as important as QB you better believe he will be starting the first game of the year. Lets not be naive.

It would be silly for Ball NOT to declare.

His numbers would HAVE to go down next year just based on the fact that they wouldn't have another thread like Wilson available.. his workload might go up, but they'll be overrelying on him.. teams will KNOW what to stop.

This will only hurt recruiting QB 's in the future. High school QB's will take notice that Wisky likes to take in transfer QB's. Much ado about nothing, IMO.

Ball is gone. Same reason Greene left early. A runningback has a short shelf life and needs to get paid while he still can.

As for Christ, if they go after him that's great news for Iowa/rest of Big 10. First of all, Christ isn't that good. Second of all, it means they aren't sold on any of their current quarterbacks.

Their QB recruit for 2012. He's a 3* on rivals but the #4 QB overall on Scout. Who knows. I doubt they really want to start him and their other options must be pretty poor to continue to go this route.

He sounds like a pretty solid prospect but from what I have read his high school team runs a version of the veer offense and he will have to adjust to running the pro style offense that Wisky runs. Will not be ready to start at QB as a true freshman.

Yeah, getting Crist wouldn't be saying anything about Houston's ability.

It would say quite a bit about the other quarterbacks on the roster though.

I know coach Biels probably hasn't seen many ND games over the last few years but he might want to throw in some game tape before signing this guy. He may be a highly rated kid out of high school but even with all the weapons ND had at receiver during his tenure he was never anything better than mediocre.

Isn't the conference working on disallowing this?

Either way, I don't think this will work out how Wisco is hoping.

Really hoping for some down years coming for Wisco.

You may be thinking of the SEC. They did make it illegal not long after Masoli went to Ole Miss.

I remember Wiscy was all in on Rudock in the 2011 class, but we ended up getting him and they came away with no ranked qb commitment that year which I'm sure is forcing them to go this route.

Great get, diamond in the rough, plays like a champion someday next year, wants to be a badger, can't wait for the 4th quarter intermission because he loves to jump around, a leader of men, already been tested against elite competition, everyday i'm christ'ening....
