Wisconsin, Minnesota, Illinois, and Nebraska should be frightened.

Iowa currently boasts the best field goal kicker in the country (he leads the NCAA statistically)...and our defense is number three in scoring defense. Right now, I'm thinking KF may just kick a field goal when we get in Duncan's range...no matter what down it is...then turn it over to the defense. Essentially, if we can get the ball to the 35 yard line four times, we can win any game. Lofty expectations to be sure.

Is it just me or does it seem like Iowa is going for it on 4th down fewer times compared to the last year?

Sarcasm is supposed to be funny.

I guess we should have the worst FG kicker in the country so we would have to go for it on 4th down.

Should have been 16-10.

Damn those half blind zebras. ;)
That was a missed call but that would have changed the whole narrative of the game

If we get seven there instead of three, who knows what the final score would have been.

Obviously it worked out pretty good the way it turned out.

The hawk offense still needs to move the ball against these teams and score. Time of possession and field position are so important for hawk defenses. The somewhat bend but dont break defense is based on not giving up big chunk play scores but instead making the opponent have to fight for every yard and eventually the opponent offense will make mistakes that kill drives.

If the hawk offense can drive the ball and leave the opponent with the long field most of the time then Iowa can usually be in the game. BF needs to have some plays to score when the offense gets inside the opponent 30 as this is where they have been sputtering. Hard to score in the red zone without really good running game and pass game.

Paraphrasing Matt Nagy's recent comments "QB's throw ints and RB's fumble so it's too risky trying to move the ball down field so you the only thought, without any second guessing, is to kick the field goal. Such a great statement and well thought out response; especially when you consider how the game ended. Pure genius.

Lambardi or one of the old timey coaches was quoted saying, "three things happen when you throw the football, and two of them are bad." Conservative coaches are so joyous to root for.....

Hope the best for the Hawkeyes. With Wisconsin rolling into the bye with a 2 game losing streak it's not likely they will take Iowa for granted. That and the game is in Madison.

As for the other teams on the schedule; Illinois, Minnesota and Nebraska, Iowa certainly has the edge. Particularly at home against Illinois and Minnesota.

I saw ESPN or SI or someone published the top 150 college football games of all times, this being the 150th anniversary of the birth of it. This game somehow didn't even make it. C'mon man. They had an ISU game on there even.
