Wisc fan comment on ESPN post

Rittenberg wrote a post about dark horse heisman candidates in the B10. An Iowa fan mentions Coker in the comments...a pipe dream, but sure why not. His argument was more against Wisc having their running backs mentioned because they split carries. Anyway, some Wisc fan chimes in with this...

"There is no reason to believe Iowa's OL will be as good as Wisconsin's."

Am I the only one that thinks that's ridiculous? For starters...Wisconsin lost a TON of talent on the O Line (Carimi, Moffitt, Nagy). Iowa lost a bit (Vandervelde, Koeppel), but look what we return (Reiff, Zusevics, MacMillan, Ferentz). Our O Line is pretty stacked this year, and likely our strongest area.

Maybe it's much ado about nothing, but thought it worthy of discussion.

I think Iowa will have a better all-around line, but Wisconsin always has a good line as well, and they are almost always built for sledding in the run game. Iowa's line has smaller(relatively) lineman that can also pass protect. Wisconsins is built for the run, and judging by last years stats, there are enough yards to go around.

In short both teams should get yards on the ground, but Iowa is an injury away from having a big unknown in the backfiled, whereas Wisconsin has two fantastic options to split carries and carry them through injuries in White and Ball.

I don't think either backfield will produce a Heisman candidate. It is rare to see more than one RB invited to the ceremony lately(with the prevalence of the spread). And my money on that one is LaMichael James.

Here in Madison, there is a certain level of respect for Iowa, but most Wisky fans regard UW as a cut above Iowa in every way, even when faced with facts that would counter that belief. Owell.

Racer, I grew up in Wisky back in the 80s and even when Hayden was rolling Bucky back then the fans still had that attitude....they just aren't very bright up there in cheeseland.....unless you're a Hawk fan. :)

Of course they think they are a cut above Iowa. After all, they have:
-A far superior city. Madison is the greatest place in the world...just ask em
-They have a cute little band that thinks a lot of themselves and a nice little tradition of jumping. Big woop
-Iowa is such a rural state...you know, pig farmers, etc. Oh no, nothing agricultural about Wisconsin

Typical Badger fans
As far as comparing O lines, I will take my chances. I like it better when we are under respected anyway. Would love to meet them in Indy

Well, I did read on this site that since Wisconsin's coach took over, they have a much better overall record than Iowa, so maybe that's why they think they're better than you. Don't know any details besides that, so don't climb up my butt about it, but it is what I heard.

However, the more pressing issue here is that the off-season has gotten so desperate that we are now discussing article comments. Me thinks training camp can't start soon enough!

/I heard Obama was born in Africa? Someone should do something about that...

Seriously, we have gone from complainingg about what Dennis Dud has to say to complaining about what some comments are on Rittenberg's blog?

Exactly! Spot on.

In all seriousness, I love both Iowa City in Madison (having lived in both). Madison is a great city but some of the Cheddarbuckypackers are ridonkulous.

Well, I'm more of a Gator fan than a Hawk fan, but enjoy your visit! Mid-summer is probably the worst time to visit, but it is still an incredible place. Let me know if you want some advice on fun stuff to do on your visit.

I have a condo right on the beach in Madeira Beach. Been coming for about 20 years. Know a lot of the locals and the bartenders know me. It is an incredible place. Yes it is hot but if I am golfing at 7:30AM or up to my neck in the pool or gulf, all is good.

It's the difference between moderated and unmoderated message boards. Most media execs at places like ESPN and Fox have absolutely no clue about online communities. Speaking from direct experience.
