Win puts last years 12-0 into perspective

Last night's victory over Michigan puts into perspective just how hard it is to go undefeated in the Big Ten. Michigan is top 5 statistically in offense and defense with great special teams. Iowa is...uh...much lower in offense and defense stats.

As frustrating as this season has been, last nights victory makes me appreciate what happened last year so much more.

For some reason last nights win felt bigger than any we had last season. Perhaps because it just happened.

That and at no point last year, did I expect us to get blown out by the opposing team. There were plenty of games for us to lose, but we found enough to win the close ones. It wasn't until Stanford in the Rose Bowl that we were exposed and completely out-gunned/out-played/out-coached.

This win was huge. The team and it's fans were on a steep dive. It looked like we'd be lucky to become bowl eligible. We had just been blown out by Penn State and were going to take on a statistically stronger Michigan squad. We had less than a 10% chance to win (according to ESPN's FPI).

After the Pedo State game I didn't even want to see us go to a bowl.

I didn't expect this at all. I'll pat myself on the back a little as I told a buddy (Ole Miss fan) not to bet on Michigan with a -21 point line because "that just doesn't happen in Kinnick". I was right, he didn't listen so he lost some coin.

I agree completely with this. We showed that we can compete at the elite level last night if we are in the right mindset as a team as a whole.

Last nights win was bigger then any win last year. Frankly I thought our best game last season was the loss to Michigan State.

The only one that could compare was the win at Wisconsin. After the game, my thoughts were more like, "we'll take it, sweet!, unexpected, etc." More numb than anything. This win was more elation for me because of the expectation.

Just stop with the PEDO State stuff.

The past should not be forgotten. They allowed a terrible thing to happen and did their best to hide it. I feel no remorse for calling them out. Furthermore, if something like this, or the problems at Baylor, I would want everyone to know about it and condone it. Burying it just encourages people to do whatever they want.
