All they really ever needed was a chance
A chance to make things right, punch a ticket to play in the big dance
Through all the highs and lows, though, the season has now come and gone
Some times were tough. Others? They really could do nothing wrong.
But through it all, thick or thin, they stuck together
They knew their fans would show up loud and proud, and do so in any weather
Because being a Hawkeye is more than loving the colors yellow and black
It's about loyalty, history and passion, and having each other's back
Through winning streaks and losing streaks they always were there
Fans, players and coaches, you could never say they didn't care.
And at times it was hard, especially when losing became a trend
But here they are with a chance to play and make it to the very end
One game, one shot, keep moving on or they're going home
Even if they do though, Hawkeye nation will never let them be alone
It's been a long journey and we'd all like to see it continue
So fight hard, give it your all and nobody will be able to stop you
Show the world what Iowa basketball really is, because they can't handle that
Most of all though, remember who's watching
