Will you miss the NBA?

If there is no NBA next season, will you care?

The championship was fairly entertaining and I started getting interested in the NBA. Now a lockout.

Not for a second. Wouldn't miss baseball or hockey, either.

I won't miss it til the playoffs. The 8 month long playoff they have really tides me over to the middle part of baseball where standings and games are actually starting to matter. Regular season though, I could care less.

Most of the people taking this poll likely live in Iowa where there is no NBA team. I suspect people living in NBA cities will miss it very much.

I enjoy the post season. Don't really pay any attention to the regular season.

Yes, there's only so many 60-55, 32% shooting, sloppy B10 games I can watch in a row. I need to watch some actual good basketball to cleanse my basketball palate in between. Not sure where I'm going to find that this year if there is a strike.

15 years ago, I wouldn't have even noticed the NBA being locked out.

However college BB is nearly unwatchable for me these days and that pushed me to the NBA. There is very little talent and when the NBA lockout is lifted and the 1 year out of highschool rule to be drafted is eliminated there will be almost no talent in college BB.

Bottom line this lockout needs to happen. NBA salaries are out of control. NBA owners need to stop throwing money are around and running their franchises like a fantasy league team. Sometimes you need to take a few steps back to move forward.

The NBA was starting to gain some traction. Their big problem is their season runs concurrently with college football and college basketball...and the NFL. I am guessing the NFL will be back in play here soon.

So people really don't 'turn' to the NBA en mass until April, May and June.

The lockout could be over by then, as it was a decade ago when they started a shortened season in February.

It just doesnt have the widespread appeal the other sports mentioned have.

Haven't watched since Jordan.

Thugs.

No defense.

College players try harder.

Myths perpetuated by people who never actually watch the NBA.

I would rate the NBA's "Thug Quotient" as far below that of the NFL. Most of the game's biggest stars are more GQ than they are street.

The defense in the NBA is exceptional. After the influence of Riley's Knicks it was too good (or at least too physical) for a while. Rule changes were adopted, the Phoenix Suns proved that you can create a lot of buzz by scoring tons of points, and now there is a pretty good balance between offense and defense. If you want proof of the great D, look at how great college scorers (JJ Redick, soon Kemba Walker) struggle so mightily to get the ball in the basket in the NBA.

College players do try harder during their regular season, but that is just the nature of the game. No sane person could bust their *** 100% for each and every game during an 82 game regular season. Crazy people like Kevin Garnett, Kobe Bryant, and Michael Jordan pull it off, but many NBA players take plays off here and there. But once you get to the playoffs the intensity in the NBA is unreal.

As previous posters have said, if you want to watch the most talented and exciting basketball players in the world, you watch the NBA. If you are into school pride and the spirit of competition, college hoops will do, but I have found the college basketball product very lacking ever since the best players started going straight to pro or 1-and-done.

Maybe they don't need an 82 game regular season. I kind of feel the same way about baseball's 9 zillion game season. Each game is not so important.

Yes, its a league where all the good basketball players play.

If they had a shorter season, and didn't play the championship in summer, I think it would be more interesting.

I appreciate that there are some incredible athletes in the NBA. I watch it from time to time, but to me, the season is really long and I could care less about basketball in the summer.

Hell yes....

My brother and I were talking about this last night. I said I would miss NBA more than NFL.

1. Hawkeye Football
2. Hawkeye Basketball
3. NBA
4. NFL

Now if baseball would stop and never come back.... thatd be great. The worst part about summer is all the baseball on ESPN. I do like me some web gems though.
