will we see the RB rotation slimmed this week?

I think we have to at some point. I'm hoping for mostly weisman/daniels with sprinkles of canzeri and a few snaps for bullock on 3rd down.

I'm thinking Canzeri takes over on jet sweeps, Bullock keeps 3rd down, Weisman and Daniels pound on the DL.

Who knows, though, knowing GD, he'll send Weisman on a jet sweep.

Weisman on a sweep and one yard out routes are GD's signature plays at Iowa. The ugliest two yards in football.

That is my guess. We start with the hammer sprinkled with canzeri and go forward most with who is having success.

Who knows... Ferentz won't tell us before he does it. And for good reason why give opponents that knowledge. I would think Canzeri should get 15 touches or so. He's just more apt to break a long one then the rest. Weisman and Daniels share the 4th q and short yardage/goal line touches. With Bullock on 3rd downs and some receptions along with rushes. Bullock has really looked good to me. He was awesome the last couple drives last game. With his blocking pass catching and he's not a bad runner. I'm not upset when I see him in the game.

I will grant you that he looks better than last year, but I still think he is too indecisive and dances too much at the hole.

We need more Canzeri. He's the only running back capable of cutting back on the outside zone play. He also presses the hole a lot faster than our other running backs. We have 4-5 games of empirical proof that Canzeri is our best back running the ball. I have no idea why we don't believe the production we see.

Less Daniels. At this point, he's a worse Weisman. He doesn't cut back the outside zone. He doesn't really move the pile, break tackles, like Weisman. I just don't think he needs to play over the other 3.

Bullock should play in 2-minute drills, and 3 and mediums to long. He's a good pass block, a decent threat on a draw, and good receiver.

When bullock started his first game vs N ill in 2012 I thought he'd be good. He just never hit the hole with the same agressiveness aftervhe was injured.

^^^^ DING, DING, DING ... Winner

KF indicated Canzeri had been in-and-out of practice this fall with injury, so that has had an affect.

Bullock was really good late in game last week. KF has been high on him and commented how he's stood out since spring camp.

I believe it's because Canzeri was slowed by injury this fall.

I agree except daniels looks to me to be the most capable pf becoming a complete back so I hope they continue to use him. He cpuld be very, very good.

I like the way you are thinking. Start with Canzeri early. Save Weisman 2nd half with a lead. Bullock on passing downs. Daniels can play 1 whole series in 2Q but thats it. Parker can stick to kickoffs and trick plays.

If you are going to have five guys run the ball then the number of carries has to be around 45 in order to get a good distribution. The coaches need to figure out early on which back is going to be most effective against the clones then give that back 1/2 the carries on the day. Just putting guys in a seemingly random fashion w/ a total of 30 carries isn't going to get us much. Find the horse and ride him a bit. The change of pace guy should be getting 10 to 12 carries. JR and the other guy round out the remaining 10 carries. Do that and we are looking at 175 + yards on the day. If JR is around 30 for 40 and can get the yds/catch up to around 8 then we win comfortably. Boettger is the real question here. He looked good in pass protection last week but we have no real idea how good he is in run support..

I would like to see Bullock out of the rotation until he learns not to dance. Like to see more Leshun Daniels, Canzeri

I don't remember the Iowa staff doing a damned thing that I wanted them to do when it comes to personnel or game planning. Why should they start opening my mail this week?

This thread is laffy.

First, there is much beaching because the touches aren't being spread out; then there is beaching that there's too much spreading of touches.

Can we agree that we don't know as much about coaching football as coaches?
