Why wouldn't we offer Coco Ware???

It seems like we aren't going to use all of our available scholarships, so if Ware is a one and done and we get that scholarship back next year, then why wouldn't we offer him??? Maybe there is something I'm missing, but I'd think we'd offer him and look for another one and done guy just so we have a full team.

If Fran doesn't offer Ware then it must mean that he and his assistants feel they are okay for the next year and are concentrating on a dynamite class for 2011. If they feel that Marble and McCarty can help Cully they will concentrate on the future. If they think Ware is the answer then I think they will offer. But doesn't look they are going to or news would be out on it.

I'm going to trust the coaches until they prove me wrong. If they decide Ware is a good option, then great. If not, I'm Ok with that too.

I just don't understand why everyone is getting so worked up about not offering a guy who they haven't seen play, with 1 year of eligibility, who's been in Jr College for like 5 years...?

I read somewhere he may actually have two years of eligibilty. Maybe Jon could find out thru his sources.

I think the concern is to be respectable next year with a lot of young eyes on the program,We have quite a few offers on the table already and if we play like last year(I dont think we will) We wont get the best of these offers. It would be ausome to have a team next year that could fight for a NIT berth,(best case scenario) or the other post season tourny,,,,it's a big wish, but if we can pick up one kid that can help we'd be that much closer and that much closer to landing some top flight help for Cully and Matt before they graduate.

I remember when Alford came in, and he brought in Rob Griffin. Guy could score. But the team took a vote the following spring and he was voted off the island. Chemistry matters...I don't have any idea about Ware's character and am not casting aspersions, and I know the Iowa staff will performer the due diligence necessary...but chemistry matters, and perhaps they would rather not bring in a one year contributor.

agree about the trust in coaches as they most likely have the best insight about what fits and what doesn't.

BUT... coco's a one and done player. the notion to me that the coaches are "satisfied" with what we currently have is missing the mark. regardless of how good we/they think our current roster is or can be, the chance to bring in a guy that wants to be here for one year (from his twitter) sounds like a good option.

and that action does nothing to detract from the future- make the kids compete, rather than just be "satisfied" with going to bat with what is here.

Something just does't seem right. When Brust got his release from Iowa there was supposed to be twenty-some schools contacting him. With that many schools trying to add a player it seems strange that Coco dosen't seem to be getting any attention. You would think he would be a good pick up for a school that has open offers to give.

I think Fran's worreid animal activists on campus will raise a ruckes over his penchant for keeping exotic birds as pets.

I'm thinking Fran is very cognizant about being able to graduate his players....probably is eligible for incentives. Not saying Coco would be a negative, but gotta believe it's a variable in the equation.
