Why is ESPiN trying to...

desperately hype up the Ohio State-Northwestern game? They're acting liek it's going to be a legendary showdown, when I think it is going to be a 20 point beat down, when the Kitties get exposed for their lack of defense.

The only thing I can figure is that the top Northwestern J school graduates in sports wind up at ESPiN because that's the only place a sports "writer" can make money, and these dweebs are trying to convince us that "Chicago's Big Ten Team" actually matters.

I'd think its to drum up ratings for what could likely be a backhanded beach slap from tOSU.

I gotta agree with you guys... I think OSU covering 7.5 is the best bet this weekend.

Pat's a little weepy over that statement.....

I would take OSU at -6.5, at -7.5 I would pass. OSU's secondary has not been good this year. Teams like Cal and Buffalo have been able to rack up yards on them, and OSU made Joel Stave look like an All-American last week.

The half point does suck. I would buy it down to 6.5 depending on where you place your wagers. I honestly don't think it will make much of a difference though. Northwestern's defense is not as good as Wisconsin's. OSU will give up some points, but they should be able to stop the Wildcats on occasion.

ESPiN has been doing nothing but disrespecting the BoneG for the past 5 years, and then all of a sudden, a mediocre game is getting all of this hype while there are other good games out there...I don't get it. Either it is a plan to further embarrass the BoneG, or it's a clod of NW fanboyz trying to cram their team down the country's throat.

Don't underestimate Mike Greenberg's pull at ESPN.

I told your former online persona to stop using BoneG and now I'm telling your new one; stop using BoneG. It's annoying.

Moving on: I think this could be a good game. Yes, ESPN is hyping the ever living crap out of it. Greenberg did what seemed like a 10 minute comedy sketch where he is the nerd amongst the big macho jocks (that's getting old for Mike&Mike) that wasn't very funny.
But I can't blame them. They are hoping to get some B1G (not BoneG) eyeballs on the TV.
I think it will be good game. I will watch it.

At 7.5 I'm taking NW.

Greenberg, Wilbon, Musberger are among the many NW grads in the hype business. Its a joke that will quickly fade after NW loses to OSU, Wis, Minny and Iowa the next 4 weeks. Then they will wonder wtf they were thinking.

Two points:

One, you know what is going to happen if you tell me to stop saying something.

Two, didn't you learn your lesson betting on games yet?

Perhaps because, contrary to popular belief, ESPN is heavily invested in the Big Ten and would like to see interest in the league's football brand increased, thus giving ESPN more money?

This is not true. ESPN is the evil empire and the poor B10 gets unfairly bashed by the network talking heads for no reason. In fact the whole reason the B10 has struggled in football the last decade is because of ESPN. Anyone who believes otherwise is a fool.
