Why doesn't the B12 just replace Nebby?

Help me understand this - why would Texas want to leave for another conference? They would have to share revenue that they currently get to keep for themselves. I would think they would be pushing to simply replace Nebby with a team (Ie TCU).

Because they'll lose money without Nebraska and Mizzou. TCU doesn't help create revenue, because the Big 12 already owns Texas. Losing a national program like Nebraska and the KC/STL market would be a big blow.

The Big Twelve will need to replace two teams. Colorado announced they are heading to the Pac Ten.
sorry - I have been out of contact with media all day today - ok I understand why Coloroda left - maybe plug in anouther team (boise or somebody similiar)

how would you negotiate a better TV deal while showing up at the table with TCU instead of Nebraska?

UT and A&M want to improve their neighborhood!

I understand that completely, but would UT get more money by joining the PAC10 and splitting things evenly vs a decreased Big 12 contract, but getting a higher percentage of the pie?

By gaining the Los Angeles, Seattle, Phoenix, and Portland markets, they will stand to make a great deal more money. Not all of those markets are HUGE, but they are comparable to the KC/STL market. And Texas can't get a lot bigger than L.A.
