Why didn't we get Pearl three years ago?

The time to get Pearl would have been while Bowlsby was here and the year we let Tom Davis go.

Pearl at the time was at Southern Indiana coaching D-II ball. He was coming off his 3 straight D-II Sweet 16 appearance. Bruce Pearl and Southern Indiana had won the D-II National Championship in 1995

What do you think the fan reaction would have been to have hired him from a D-II school? Especially compared to the hype Alford had created by then with his Sweet 16 appearance?

Forget Bruce Pearl, Fran can be our very own Bruce Pearl. I like that he genuinely wanted the job, his uptempo style is appealing as well.
