Why are the T Wolves assisting Miami?

I've never really understood this whole thing.

Lebron heads to Miami and Miami needs to free up some cap space. Michael Beasley is a bust and yet the T Wolves take him off the Heats hands for a 2nd rounder next year....what gives?

If you're a team like the T Wolves, why are you going to try and help a team like Miami? Makes no sense to me, could someone try and explain?

I think it's to early to call him a bust...I think he'll do just fine. I would take him for a 2nd round pick.

He scored 15 ppg last year....Twolves can use him. Plus i think his contract is up after this season so its a valuable trade piece down the road. If the TWolves didnt do it someone else would

I don't think he's a bust either, maybe a little overwhelmed with the transition from college to NBA, not mentally ready for it. I think if he get his mind right, he will be a damn good player. As someone mentioned above, good pickup for a second round choice.

I think this is a great move for the Wolves. They are not going to sign any elite FAs so they need to get lucky with a couple guys like this. Beasely has not met expectations but he is very young. The NBA is full of guys who make several moves before they begin to reach their potential. Chauncey Billups was with 4 teams before he became the leader of the Pistons championship team.

Agreed. Beasley is a knucklehead but getting away from South Beach will help and it isnt like the Wolves have much to lose

Wolves bring in someone to make the team better(thought not great), do it on the cheap, and bring in more fans(or simply string them along, hoping to get better), and the the best part of it all, is they turn a nice profit for ownership and yet they dont have to spend much to get it(for if they spent to win, they may win but may not make as much profit...I think this explains a lot of pro teams that lose all the time, like the Cubs, Clippers, Brewers, so on).

Is Al Jefferson still with the t-wolves? Too lazy to look. You have a decent 4, you hope either Beasley or Johnson pan out at the 3 spot.....it seems like they million point guards on the roster......maybe you can build a team similiar to the way Oklahoma City did it.

1. The wolves desperately need talent

2. Don't expect anything "smart" by this organization. I'm still baffled how Glen Taylor can be a billionaire as poorly as he's managed this business. He held on to the worst GM in sports (second to Matt Millen perhaps) for way too long, and replaced him with a guy who's not looking much better.

Minnesota has made a lot of dumb moves but this is not one of them. This is a low risk, high reward move. Beasley was the second overall selection just a few years ago, why not take a chance on him and see if a change of scenery helps him out. Minnesota is not in any position to be worrying about helping other teams out, they aren't going to potentially meet Miami in the finals or anything, if the move helps their team they need to do it. Now if this was Orlando or Chicago or Boston making this move, then yes it would be dumb.

Agreed, his problem in Miami is he was used as the 4, sometimes the 3 when Haslem played 4/5 and O'Neal played 4/5. Most of the time it was Oneal-5 Beasley-4, im not defending beasley but he wasnt really meant to play the 4 in the NBA.
Edit: I take it back i didnt realize he was 6'10 and 235.

He's also not meant to play the 3 either since he can't guard quicker smaller forwards and he doesn't have three point range. He's a tweener, that's been his problem since he got into the NBA, well that and being crazy.

He would be a great DS(Designated Shooter) his offense isnt great but not horrible, he needs to work on defense because in college he mainly just out muscled guys for rebounds, maybe he could work out with Dejuan Blair. (strength, muscle building wise)

Once I started thinking about it, he did play with his back to the basket a lot at KSU. For some reason I thought he had good perimeter skills and was flexible enough to play the 3 or the 4. I guess I was wrong, also....I did not realize he was that big either.

I need to look at the t-wolves roster because if you have Jefferson, you really don't need Beasley, unless you plan on unloading Jefferson.

Looks like the T-Wolves are trading Al Jefferson to Utah...not sure what they are getting back, but this is clearly the plan behind acquring Beasley. They were overloaded with forwards,so now they trade Jefferson...maybe for Okur? or whoever...Utah did well here, tho,as Big Al is a heckuva player.

They got the Jazz's trade exception and two future first round picks. Again, looks like a questionable decision by Kahn.

Your second rounders are typically not going to make the statistical impact that Beasley has shown. I think its a good mnove
