Why are Iowa athletics so mediocre?

We have good facilities and good fans. Basketball football have been disappointing for over a decade.

Well Gary is Kirk lil puppet he can do what he wants to do. I am kinda surprised that the contract Kirk has only goes to 2020 and not 2040.

Because the fat cats on top don't care!

I think this maybe somewhat true. I think they are prudes. Prudes don't want egos or personalities that are bigger than they are. They could lose control if that were to happen. They know that they could be forced out by fans before a successful arrogant coach is forced out because he doesn't want to put up with the snippy prudish personalities.

I visualize them like this........ Remember the old TV show "Little House On The Prairy"? Remember the prudish school teacher with her hair pulled back and her little round eyeglasses. Remember her prudish extreme proper personality? That's how I see the people that make these decisions at Iowa. They want conforming personalities as coaches who can produce mostly mediocrity and on occasion good results but not great results to the point that they become bigger personalities that they can not control because fans want to win and want to keep them.

The 80's and 90's are over and they are struggling to adapt despite all the money coming in.

I don't. I recall Little House on the Prairie though.
