Who's the better QB, '11 Jones or '10 Gabbert?

Gabbert went 41-57 434 yards against us last year. How does Jones compare? This is what scares me.

2010 Blaine Gabbert vs. 2011 Landry Jones

Gabbert 301-475 (63.4%) 3186 yds, 16 td, 9 int 127.03 rating
Jones 339-537 (63.1%) 4302 yds, 28 td, 14 int 142.4 rating

Don't forget that a couple of Jone's targets are out of the bowl games with injuries I believe. We just evened the playing field with the Coker issue, this game will be a crap shoot.

A crap shoot? Oklahoma is considered the #4 team in the country per Jeff Sagarin and we are 18 point dogs at #41. Even with a couple players out, they are a more talented team and should be heavily favored.

Jones with broyles and reynolds would have been better. Having whaley would help him out as well but none of those guys can go. I just don't see Landry putting up those numbers this year. Watch out for blake bell though.

With the extra practices Jones should be able to get some timing down with the back ups, but I remember reading "In his last four outings, he completed just 57 percent of his passes, and threw two touchdowns against seven interceptions." It'd be interesting to see if the the defense is fired up to play for Norm one last time. I like Iowa's chances coming off of bowl practices and won't be as surprised if they pull off the upset. With Big Game Bob coaching and KF keeping it close I think it will be much closer than the analysts are saying.

That TD to interception ratio is misleading. They put up over 500 yards against ISU. They had 2 TD's (both short rushing TD's) and settled for 4 short FG's. It's not like they were struggling to move the ball.

The Baylor game he didn't have any passing TD's, but they had over 600 yards (447 passing) and 38 points.

Yep, all OK has to do is look at the tape how well Iowa defends mobile quarterbacks, Bell could definitely be a thorn in our side.

Sorry, that was my way of being optimistic, and I agree OK is more talented, but one thing KF has done well is prepare his team for bowl games.

Iowa has had a talented roster the past few years. It was a shame the Shonn Greene 2009 team and the 2010 teams lost so many games with a roster loaded with future NFL talent. Iowa has been able to compete with anyone. They also have shown the frequent ability to lose to anyone. No excuses last year's team with possibly 15+ players who will get an NFL sniff should have lost so many games. That's on the coaching. The Boise State team that shocked Oklahoma in the BCS had a third of the talent.
