When will an NFL player announce he is gay?

EDIT: Other posters have pointed out the potential conflict with HN guidelines on politics and controversy with the original thread title, so it has been edited to ask WHEN the first NFL player will announce he is gay.

James Collins has gained attention for coming out in the NBA, and there has been a good deal of speculation whether any NFL player would be brave enough to come out. Commissioner Roger Goodell even commented on the issue prior to last week's draft. So when do you think one will take that step?

Not that there would be anything wrong with that (being gay, that is). Perhaps a better question would be whether Collins' announcement of his sexual preference will open the door to anyone in the NFL to come out.

Remember, John Amaechi (Penn State and 5 years in the NBA) also came out. But, it was after he was done playing in the league.

I was going to start a "Daily Iowa Legislature Update Thread" in the off topic forum a few days back and the thread was deleted and I got banned from OT because of it. Dont know if that matters. My post in the thread on the happenings on the legislature had to do with a certain politician that made some comments recently about homosexuals. It was not appreciated and I dont know if we should be discussing that topic in the sports forums. Mine was in OT and it didnt fly.
