I'm not homer, but I think we have an uphill battle to sign one of those two, considering the fact we already have a high profile RB who has been tearing it up this fall and also the fact that we have possibly 5 RB's that they will have to climb to get PT in the next 4-5 years with Robinson, Hampton, Coker, Johnson, and also if Wegher comes back plus Gordon.

I have no worries. I still think that we'll sign one of the two (out of Miller and Coe). I don't know their time-lines ... but I'm not worried either.
You have to recall what sort of impression an RB is going to get when they visit Iowa. They're going to come across RBs who are absolutely GIDDY about the OL that is blocking for them. Furthermore, the Iowa OL is still currently pretty young ... and yet they're still playing at such a high level. That then implies that Iowa's OL is only going to get better through the coming years!
The point here being ... a recruit wants to go to a place where he can be successful. Thus, for a running back, that means that you want to go to a place that likes to run the ball AND a place that has a great OL. Iowa HAS IT ALL!
Furthermore, while Iowa DOES have some quality backs "waiting in the wings" ... we currently only have 2 guys who have game experience. When you consider that Hampton and Robinson will be upperclassmen in 2011 ... the immediate implication is that there will definitely be opportunity sooner rather than later. Furthermore, since the depth past our top 2 guys will all be redshirting, the immediate implication is that a TR FR will still be capable of competing for playing time in 2011. Thus, opportunity really won't be that big of an issue.
The point here being that a recruit definitely also likes the allure of "opportunity." And, at Iowa, there will definitely be opportunity.
There is also the issue of PROXIMITY ... and geographic proximity is often a really strong biasing factor to recruits. Thus, it's a HUGE positive for Iowa that Miller and Coe are BOTH from neighboring states.
The point here is that Iowa benefits from the inherent advantage of proximity for each of the above recruits.
Lastly, these young, highly touted guys want to win! And, as the past year or so has demonstrated ... Iowa is competitive on the highest level! An orange bowl win already proves that ... and you can better believe that these young men get excited by all the confidence that they run across when the interat with players in the Iowa locker room. Iowa has high expectations and there is A LOT of excitement surrounding the program ... and recruits just love that stuff!
The point here is that a recruit wants to be a winner ... and that they're often attracted to hype. Right now, Iowa seems to be able to capitalize off of both of those.
