who SHOULD the starting lineup be, in your opinion

5.Gabe
4. White
3. Uthoff
2. Jok
1. Clemmons

This is the 2nd half starting lineup, as Fran has apparently made Woody 4 year starter.

Jok for Clemmons, let Gesell continue at the point because if Jok can make shots all of a sudden your point guard looks better, Woody or Gabe, Uhtoff and White, we just need a shooter to see if he can keep the scoring droughts away and open up the lane. Uhtoff and Gesell need to keep shooting

It doesn't matter. This team and coaching staff stinks from top to bottom. Not like there are some studs waiting to start or a coach with a clue waiting to make a move.

Might as well start playing for the future though. Start Jok and Uhl. Play Ellingson and Dickerson more. Start getting them ready for the future.

5). Calabria
4). Brown
3). Jensen

1). Johnson

Too bad Vintage hawk would have help sell his plastix if he were in the line up
Who forgets Stormin Spank we have his beer knowledge to keep us occuiped
We all should start ....

Honestly:

Gesell
Jok
Uthoff
White
Olaseni

My reasoning: this team needs an alpha dog. I'm not terribly impressed with Jok but he at least has the mentality. People have said that he has defensive problems which is true, which is why you need Olaseni on the back line to help protect the rim. Woodbury plays better position defense but is not a shot blocking threat. I feel like you get better offense in the halfcourt with that lineup and you gain somebody on the court who wants the ball.

I would like to see a change of the starting five and minute distribution. Olaseni should get twice the minutes of Woodbury, also Uthoff and White need to be in the game 30+ min. My rotation would be as follows...

I also wondered what it would look like with Uhl at the point and Jok moving to SG/SF. Perhaps a lineup with a point forward would work if along with that you pressed the hell out of your opponent and worked to set up fast break points. This offense as it is today is the slowest I have seen since Lick ball. Except during Lick ball he may have actually had better ball movement than this current squad.

20-16
Gesell (28)
Uthoff (32)
Uhl (24)
White (36)
Oleseni (28)

16-14
Gesell
Jok (16)
Uthoff
White
Oleseni

14-10
Clemmens (8)
Ellinson (8)
Uhl
White
Woodbury (12)

10-8
Dickerson (4)
Jok
Uthoff
Uhl
Woodbury

8-4
Gesell
Jok
Uthoff
White
Oleseni

4-0
Gesell
Uthoff
Uhl
White
Oleseni

Someone with no dog in the fight makes the most sense.

I would go with this too and add that Woodbury should still get solid minutes, but Olaseni should get more.

Anyone who has Dickerson as a starter has no clue.

I think Gabe may wow the crowd with some block shots and dunks but Woody has a way more rounded game. They both need the ball more though.

any anyone who thinks Woodbury should still be getting solid minutes is right there with him.

1. doesn't really matter, all Iowa's PGs are terrible

Agree with this lineup. Start Olaseni & Jok.

Regarding PG, guess I still go with Gesell because I'm not sure who else is better, but start getting Dickerson a lot more minutes off the bench to see if he can get some stuff figured out. He won't improve sitting at the end of the bench every game. Unless he just really is THAT BAD, but I don't have the luxury of seeing the practices, etc.

I'm not sure what Clemmons really brings to the table to warrant him starting. He's just kind of a warm body out there.
