Who Remembers Watching This Game?

I remember this very well. I couldn't believe Street missed the putback and thought that was it, but James Moses saved the day! Didn't remember Indiana being ranked #4. Good stuff.

I think the play was designed to get it to Barnes and cut to the basket, Earl flash up to set screen and roll giving Val 3 quick options. Indiana did not put a defender on the inbounds pass instead leaving a guy back to cover a cutter or cross court pass.

Earl looked to be a second option on that play. His responsibility was probably to hit a quick cutter but he shot instead of forcing a bad pass.

Tell me Earl wasn't fouled catching that inbounds pass.

Nothing like beating Bob Knight on his home floor on a tip in. With his emphasis on fundamentals like blocking out on a rebound he must have been fuming in the locker room. Not to mention that Iowa played zone D the whole game...blasphemy in his eyes.

I remember watching this game with my dad. Iowa was pretty much getting dominated through out much of the game. I remember that we both stopped watching cause we thought it was over: I went to do homework (yes, I chose iowa bball over homework back then) and my dad went into the kitchen to grade papers (yes, he chose iowa bball over school work too!) I decided to turn the tv back on to see how much we got beat by and at that point I think we were down 4 or something like that. I yelled to dad that Iowa had cut it to 4 and he immediately stop what he was doing to watch the rest of the game. It was a great time to be a hawkeye hoops fan!

I remember that game quite well. James Moses was one of the calmest, coolest, and collected player to ever don an Iowa jersey.

And unless I'm mistaken, Tom Davis is the only coach to win 3 in a row against Bob Knight while he was at Indiana.

I was four at the time. I remember watching Street as a youngster but never Moses. You can better believe my mom had me watching the hawks the second i was born though. Never knew Street was a standout HS QB. I remember bawling my eyes out when we learned he passed.

What I remember Moses best for was his motion with his hands when he was announced as a starter. It fascinated my freinds and I. Sort of like brushing his shoulders way before that was a "thing".
