Who is the last coach to go 14 years without a conference championship?

Never. See, that’s something else Ferentz has never done. He can’t even be mediocre correctly.
Are you sure??

( cough Western Michigan cough )

6-6 in 2007

Lost their last 3 regular season games in '06 to get to 6-6, but then ended up getting a bowl anyway to end 6-7.

Never question KF's ability to be mediocre, damnit!

Actually, we are a 6-4 program. Kirk wins 60% of his games, just like Hayden did. A 13 game schedule means that Kirk averages 8-5.

This season smells like another 8-5 season.

This team this year was close. Really close to something special. We just couldn't make the necessary plays late in the 4th quarter in 3 big games. It is a shame, really. I don't fully understand it. Our offensive and defensive coaches really don't seem to handle the pressure that well.

Kirk won a division championship in 2015, in a seven team division. Those count, guys; sorry to break the news.

Bill Snyder went 14 years as head coach at KSU before he won his first conference championship in 2003.

The first trick is to even find coaches that actually coach for 14 years at the same school.

Frank Beamer and Bob stoops both had a ton of championships. Paterno had some here there in the Big Ten.

I think Kirk is going to finish 9 - 3. I thought they'd be 8 - 4. So I'm not so upset. The coaching staff needs to be smarter in the Purdue game. They need to get plays in faster and get timeouts or run all the way out on the field and get a sideline warning in the PSU game.

The players need to not make boneheaded mistakes on critical plays, and we need to stop running outside zone.

I gaurantee you that there are more players on this team that will have at leadt a cup of coffee in the NFL than there has been in a long time at Iowa. This team reminds me of 2008. There's plenty of blame to go around, but it's not just the HC.
