Who is Iowa's best player?

My boy was watching the game with me last week and asked, "Dad, who is Iowa's best player?". I was actually stumped.

Weisman? Cotton? CJF? Cooper?

My answer is CJF? What cha got?

And yes, this if for THIS year only.

Oh, have you not heard? It was my understanding that everyone had heard.

CANZERI

No, but seriously. Scherff. If you don't want an offensive lineman, then I'd go with Kirksey.

Lack of playmakers on offense means that Scherrf is likely the correct answer.

I agree with those two. I would go with Kirksey becasue he has shown the ability to make game changing plays.

Weisman is playing too soft. In both games he has been arm tackled up high by d backs.. so that disqualifies him for me

Honestly, minus a couple plays, offensively Ive got to say Rudock.

Defensively Ill go with a tie Hitchens and Kirksey. BOTH have played extremely well this year so far.

in all likelyhood, only the o-linemen on this team (on offense) have any chance of being drafted, so by default they are the best players we have.

bj lowery might be the best player we have on defense, but it's probably close.

Scherff and Blythe have a chance to be first round draft choices...so they are both logical choices. Scherff is just a freak...and he really hasn't played that much, what 6-7 games. I saw him knock a lb off his feet last week and the lb saw him coming. He just didn't realize the power a 320 pound athlete can generate.

I've read on here from some the best player is Beathard, but KF is just keeping him down to prevent us from winning because he wants a game manager. Ummm...I'm going to hold off on that one and stick with Scherff.

Offense in this order....
Scherff
Manley
Weismann
Powell
Rudock
Daniels
Canzeri
CJF
Van Sloten

Defense in this order...
Hitchens
Kirksey
Lowrey
Davis
Cooper
King
Alvis

Exactly my thoughts. Scherff is a 1st round talent. Kirksey is the best defender we have I don't care if he doesn't get the tackles that hitches does. The positions they play are different. Listen to kf and he acknowledges that kirksey's spot makes him get less tackles but that it is actually the more important lb because of the versatility they have to have.

Everyone has an opinion but I will defend Canzeri because it easy to go after a guy who has been on the field for four plays all of which were inside runs. They guy has something you cannot teach and if this program would put him on the field in space we would get some big plays. Something that this program is desperately in need of. We have proven very convincingly over the years that we cannot consistently execute over the course of 10-12 offensive plays to score. That means you need play makers that can rip off big runs/plays and receivers that can stretch the field.

I love our hammer backs but I also find a way to get Powell and Canzeri on the field much more to give the defense something to think about even if we want to hand off to Weismann or Daniels. Get Canzeri in space and watch things happen. Throw the ball over the top to Powell 4-6 times a game and we score. Then watch the running lanes open up even more. But we are not that smart.

This is the most depressing thread I have read in a long time. It might as well have been titled "Who is Iowa's most least meh player."

CJ is a lock to get drafted.

I would love to see this as well.. Get Canzeri in space and get the ball to him..But I am scratching my head trying to remember when we ever utilized a player in this fashion.. Anyone?
