White vs Uthoff

Refs like different players. Id say White gets most calls and Uthoff has been getting very little. The only difference I can see is that White looks more controlled so maybe that is why he gets more calls. Its easy to see why McCabe and other players that react to every call dont gain favor from the refs but Uthoff never reacts.

Uthoff looks out of control when he drives but hes long enough to get the ball around the basket when it looks impossible. Also Ive never seen a guy that tall get blocked soo much.

Anyone else notice that refs dont favor his style of play?

I've seen Aaron smile and even talk (it appears mostly kindly) to refs, even when he is whistled for a foul or they make a decision that doesn't go his, or Iowa's, way. Even on TV, he also comes across as approachable. A little respect and arm's length friendship can go a long ways. Dev seems to do that, too.

I blame Bo Ryan. He probably told the refs to not give Uthoff any calls.

They are actually calling fouls on him to see if he has emotions or not. Also sometimes they have to whistle him to make sure he is still on the court. He has a tendency to disappear for long stretches.

The big difference is that White goes up to the rim strong when he gets a lot of calls. Uthoff doesn't do that yet. If you look weak going up (especially when just looking at him, you're inclined to believe he'd be weak inside), you're probably not going to get a lot of calls. He's just got to get stronger so he can start taking the ball up with more authority.

White is much stronger to the basket when he drives. He doesn't shy away from contact at all, while Uthoff does.
