Which scenario would you like to see play out if Iowa is not in Indy?

Obviously winning out even though the odds are still quite long (even if Iowa does win out) with what has to happen to Wisky and Northwestern for it to happen.

But, in terms of other teams making it to Indy, would what would you like to see happen?

1. Wisconsin make it or Northwestern. Ugh at that choice.....especially if Iowa beats Wisky and wins out. What could have been right?

2. Ohio St gets there and beats the West representative. Iowa would have the distinction of destroying the Big Ten Champion.

3. Ohio St falls flat on its face and Michigan St or Penn St gets there.

4. If not Ohio St, would you rather see Michigan St or Penn St? Who do you go for in the event if Ohio St (or Ohio St is) or Iowa is not involved in the Big Ten Title game? Cheer for the West or the East?

My personal rule: always cheer for the West champion in B1G CG. Always cheer for B1G team in bowl or non-conference. As for who reps the East, I don't care enough beyond wanting the West rep to win.

That said, I would LOVE for the Hawks to be the ruination of BOTH O$U and Wiscy with regards to making CFP. IF the Hawks aren't "in", it also doesn't bother me that no other B1G team is, either. In fact, it wouldn't bother me to see just one or two B1G teams in NY 6 bowls. The further the Hawks drop, the better chance we don't play "above our pay grade" in our bowl game.

The last time we were "evenly" matched, IMO, was the 2008 season in the Outback. Maybe the 2014 season Taxslayer, but that team was beyond giving a crap. You could say the 2009 team was evenly matched in the Orange Bowl, or the 2015 team was in the "right" bowl, but the motivations for those teams were vastly different. The 2009 team "knew" what might have been but for Stanzi's injury, while the 2015 never seemed to get past the last-minute loss to MSU in B1G CG vs. a Stanford team that felt they belonged in CFP.

1) Win out and NW and Wisky lose out.
2) time machine and we get MSU and NW rematch

3) Win out but Wisky wins West and beats East champ. They would have outside shot at CFP at 12-1.

I hate how when we get beat bad, our fans act like we were way worse than the other team. Games like last night prove how short sighted that way of thinking is. I think if we played Stanford 10 times, we would have probably beat them 4 or 5 times. But we played them once and happened to get blown out. Just like if OSU played us 10 times, they would probably cover the spread 5 times. But we played them once and we happened to embarrass them. That doesn't mean we are way better than them any more than it meant Stanford was way better than us. It's like people don't understand flukes happen.

Oh, I get the flukes. I just think we need a bowl win this year, and playing a team that is second or third in a P5 when we are no better than 5th or 6th (at best, currently) in B1G is starting to get old.

I agree. It happens almost every year. It's surprising Kirk had such a good bowl record for a stretch.

In his early bowls, match-ups were pretty even. 2006 onward, more often than not, were "Iowa-travels-well!" pairings to bowls at least a level above where we belonged (if not two levels).

I’d go with #2. I hope Ohio St wins the rest of the way. Wisconsin has the clear inside track to the CCG, and NW is there if Wisconsin somehow losses out. I will never root for Wisconsin and NW is fair behind on my hate scale so whoever gets there I hope Ohio St blasts them off the field

I thought we were going to get rolled by Florida in 03 but turns out we did the rolling.

That may have actually been a reverse of the "upgrade bowl". IIRC, Florida benefited from being "home" team where Outback Bowl folks thought their fans would show up in force. South Carolina five years later was a "ditto", i.e, they may have challenged for $EC East title, but the West was far more loaded and got more teams to higher bowls (BCS, Capital One, etc.).

Mich St is not that great of a team. They beat Mich backup qb, Iowa played bad with penalties and 3 costly turnovers, drops and uninspired offense, not that Ragumba is great as advertised but he might have covered Felton better.

Botton line the hawks screwed the pooch again losing to Sparty and the Wildcats.

Sparty would be the best opponent against Wisky in Big CG as even if the Hawks beat Wisky I think they only have to win one of last two to go to Champ game as they have tie breaker against the Wildcats.

jNW could end up at 9-3 but not be that strong, only good at making other teams play bad.
