Where was AC?

Couldn't watch the game, but listened to it. Don't know if I really ever heard AC's name? What was the deal? Was he double teamed a lot?

If you were an FCS team would you run at AC? Same as the linebacker question. Just not enough plays for the other team's offense to rack up stats.

AC got double teamed quite a bit and even triple-teamed at times. It was pretty clear that the EIU QB was focused on getting rid of the ball quickly because of the pressure. He blew up his guy when he went one-on-one a few times, one of which led to a sack by another player. Don't worry, AC is just fine.

EIU gave him special attention, but even with that his presence was felt. He was in the EIU backfield a lot, just a half a step from a sack. Double teaming him opened up Ballard and the rest of the line.

There were several triple teams. Ballard did have a productive day, but moving him back inside and having Binns back is going to be huge. AC didn't have the numbers, but he sure helped others get theirs.

Cant wait for binns to get back in. With AC getting double teamed all year I think Binns has a monster year.

Once the entire D'line is back, watch out. Teams will want to double AC but that will just open up KK, CB and BB.
Even with the double teams AC was a real problem for EIU. They avoided AC like a ugly girl with a bun in the oven.

Get use to it

He'll have good games, but most of the time teams are going to do everything to not let him beat them.

That opens things up for Binns/Klug and Ballard

Just another way to beat a team. Kind of like a lockdown corner. Basically takes half the field away.

There were three times in the first half when the D had EI pinned deep on the side I sat and watched from that AC narrowly missed getting a sack.

Twice he forced the QB to move unnaturally out of the pocket and he didn't make a completion, the other time he moved up then was swallowed by Daniels.

I actually thought in the first half he was very disruptive to EI's passing game.

All I know is...that TE #82 is going to be seeing AC in his sleep after the hits he delivered on him on those two punts.

The EIU offense took the day off from AC's side of the field. They avoided him at all costs. His stats are misleading becuase he made it so only one half of the field was open for use.

yeah, double/triple teamed..........and sometimes blocked illegally. That's why the other DLinemen were one on one and made them pay. A lot of times on 3rd and long they'd max protect with a TE and a back to AC's side. Sure, AC doesn't get to be a factor then but you also only have 2 guys vs. 7 defenders and end up throwing a 4 yard route on a 3rd and 13.

He also ate the back on punt formations a few times...just ran right over him 2 or 3 times.

Thats an understatement. two of those times he almost knocked the blocker into the kick. He was just brutal. Looked like he was throwing a doll around.

The fact that you said you didnt watch the game is the entire problem. As an earlier poster mentioned they Chop Blocked him about 3-4 times and got flagged for it twice. Most other times the qb was able to step up in the pocket or run for his life, but AC did disrupt plenty of pass plays. 2 Sacks by Ballard and Daniels were dandy's because AC had a double team with RB chip, so it left the other 3 1on1. When Binns comes back and Ballard moves down he will be even more disruptive.

Also unless you were at the game you didnt see him ERASE the punter's personal protector, ala "Punt Safe". When I say he leveled him on every punt I MEAN HE KNOCKED THE EVERLOVING CRAP out of him. It manifested itself in Paki's Block Scoop and Score. So he had an effect and the best type a DL can have, he occupied the other team and opened routes to get into the backfield for his teammates. He made every play he possibly could and then some, thats all you can ask. There were plenty of TFL's in the run game that he was in on.
