Where has the Screen Pass Gone in IC

Maybe I have not noticed them but it seems to me that lately the Hawks haven't used the screen pass lately. Maybe I am blind, Maybe it is personnel, or something else but can anyone shed any light on this.

I loved the Jail-Break screen and think RB and TE screens are necessary to slow the pass rush. Plus add in a smoke pass (which is essentially a screen against one-on-one coverage & loaded boxes).

I look at the fact that we have a proven RB and a still raw QB (no matter who wins the spot) for next year and only one proven WR and I see loaded boxes where screens and smoke passes will be necessary.

What are your thoughts?

Lots of screens are comin I would guess. I guess teams will load the box against us until Vandy can prove himself......That being the case we will have to use screens as an extension of the run game and to slow down biltz packages I would guess

I think they ran a few with Arob this year, but they are underutilized IMO, especially on the jailbreak (which i haven't seen much since Brodell) With McNutt's size and speed, I would think he should get a few yards every time.

The jailbreak was attempted several times this year and blown up every time for no/little gain. Not sure why, 'gamefilm' could tell us, but they were generally on the right side of the O-line which may explain something (injuries etc). A few bubble screens also.

I was blown away by our inability or unwillingness to utilize traditional screens to make Arizona pay for their pass rush.

I'm pretty sure that the Manzi wasn't good at throwing the screen ball. Seems like any time the O tried it, it failed. I'm sure that Clinton Solomon or Andy Brodell packed it up and took it with them when they left:).

I don't think you can blame KOK on this. He used to call the JB Screen almost excessively. I think it has got to be either the QB, Line, or WR as the reason for that. I think the type of RBs we have right now might be the reason we don't see the screen to them much.

Stanzi flat out was not good at throwing passes in high traffic areas. Compare pass routes and ints from 2010 to 2009. KF and KOK tried to put him in situations he was more likely to succeed.

we haven't had much luck with screen passes it seems since about the 04/05 season, not sure if its execution or the timing of the call, seems alot of the time those are called to the short side of the field as well which doesn't make much sense since its bunched up instead of being able to spread out the D.

Iowa ran several effective screen this season with Robinson as the target, I don't think this was Stanzi's fault, The play was rarely called late in the season, especially after first concussion for Arob.

With the athleticism of the line you would think they could expand the role of screens in the offense and the TE screen was surely underutilized this season as Reisner turned out to be far better with the ball in his hands than you would have expected.
