Where do you think we could have been?

I keep hearing people say how the Hawk team we've seen these last two games is not the same team as the start of the year. I totally agree.

So that being said, had we come together from the start of the season what do you think our record would be?

I think we could have had 4-5 more victories from the non-conference schedule. Maybe 1-2 more conference victories.

Again this is based on how I feel we have progressed and especially how we looked the last two games. Also doesn't mean I think we are amazing or anything. Just better.

Definitely pick up another 4 wins in OOC (SDSU, LBSU, ISU, and Wake Forest), and the Illinois/OSU games. 16-7 at best with the team that's been playing lately. Probably more realistic to be at 15-16 wins (OSU may have shown up earlier if we'd been playing this well all year).

It helps to not have OSU, IL, MN, Purdue on the schedule. We have wins against a dysfunctional MSU team and Indiana (twice) minus their best player last weekend. I am thrilled with the wins, but am not sure one can speculate on "what if" scenarios. IMO, tonight will tell us whether this team has really taken a giant step forward. If we stay competitive and play with some passion, I can live with a loss. If WI comes out and goes NW on us, then I think we are back to talking about baby steps against the bottom half of the conference.

Almost any team...

can claim they would have more victories if they could play the start of the season like they are playing now. That's the nature of basketball. Teams get better as the season goes on (if they are working hard and have good coaching).

You don't think Alabama would like to have the game back that they dropped to us? I would agree that South Dakota and Long Beach State were certainly two games that in retrospect Iowa could have and perhaps should have won, but it's not like we lost on some fluke either game. We were beaten by a better team on that day.

Team needs to continue to get better and see if we can get a few more conference victories. Beating Indiana twice and a Michigan State team in freefall is nice, but need to back it up with good performances (not necessarily wins) against some other teams.

Some of those early season L's would be W's if we were playing then like we did last week. I could see us being in the neighborhood of 13-10 to 15-8 or so, but would probably still be sub-.500 in the conference.

Who cares? Purely subjective. It is like asking how long Dick Schulz would have been Iowa's coach if he had recruited Bill Walton. Or how many Big Ten titles & Final Four appearances Iowa would have had if Lute had not gone to Arizona.

What would you do tomorrow if you won the lottery tonight is a more relevant question.

What if Harrison Barnes, Sullinger & Croft were on this team?

I wish I had bought $100,000 of Microsoft when it was offered!
