Ok, just a game here before the season started. KF plays it close to the vest. So I want to ask you guys the following questions. I know the answers to some, but not to others.

When was the last time Iowa..........

Attempted an onside kick - end of game

Attempted an onside kick - midgame as a momentum changer

Recovered an onside kick

Attempted a fake field goal

Faked a punt

Went for 2 point conversion

Did a reverse on a Kick off Return

Pass by runningback

Last onside at the end of a game that I remember was the "real Refs of Genius" game.
Last Fake FG I remember was 10 or so years ago at OSU. There may have been some since.
Kickoff reverses suck
Don't recall any of the others.

Fakes require a sense of timing...and game flow. That is not KFz's area of strength. (my apologies for stating the obvious)

The closest thing we have to a successful fake in our offense is the play action with the QB turning and rolling back to the opposite side...usually throwing to the TE. The "waggle" I believe some call it.

That play works well most of the time.

Attempted an onside kick - end of game LAST I REMEMBER WAS 2006 OUTBACK BOWL

Attempted an onside kick - midgame as a momentum changer DON'T KNOW, DON'T CARE

Recovered an onside kick THE ONE BEFORE THE ONE BY CMU, PROBABLY. WE HAVEN'T HAD MANY OF THOSE COME OUR WAY RECENTLY.

Attempted a fake field goal 2010 ORANGE BOWL

Faked a punt NOT SURE. NOT SURE WHY IT's RELEVANT

Went for 2 point conversion NIU LAST YEAR. WENT UP 18-17, WENT FOR TWO, I ASSUM, SO THAT A FG WOULDN'T BEAT US IF NIU DROVE THE FIELD

Did a reverse on a Kick off Return WHO KNOWS

Pass by runningback WOULD IMAGINE WEISMAN'S "BACKWARD" PASS ON THE FLEA_FLICKER VS. MINNY

name the last time prior to Ferentz as head coach that iowa finished with a better ranking than #10 in the AP poll.

Ferentz has done this 4 times while at Iowa.

i think 1960 was the last time prior.

IIRC, we attempted a 2pt conversion against No Ill last year. Had it been successful, it would've put us up by 3. In the end, we still won by 1. So, all good.

Now if you had asked last time a receiver attempted a pass, I'd point you to 2011 when KOK would call the McNutt reverse pass several times that year. RB? Don't recall.

Drummer, what about the flea flicker? That was a play that was called at the perfect time in the game! Oh man, Kinnick went nuts!!

don't confuse these guys with logic and facts.

I believe that Iowa has only run one fake punt during the KF era, and almost positive it was in the 2001 Miami(Oh) game at Kinnick. Iowa won it something like 44-17. This was a point of contention on a few different Iowa boards awhile back, some thinking Kirk had never run one, but a recap of the game was pulled up confirming the urban legend. So there you go.

Also, it wasn't a kickoff per se, but we ran the returner-handoff-reverse play involving CJ Jones for a punt return TD in the infamous 2001 loss to Michigan. I believe that made the score 20-7 either just before or just after halftime. KF was really a riverboat gambler back in the day, LOL.

In terms of passes thrown by a non-QB, I can think of only 2: McNutt against MSU in 2010 and Clinton Soloman to Hinkel during the Minnesota blowout in 2005. Ironically, Iowa was way ahead in both of those games when those plays were called. I believe that we had around a 4 TD lead in each game at the time of the play. Kind of hilarious that KF would need that kind of psychological cushion to even dare attempt such dastardly trickery.

Several times? Man, you're nuts. It never happened outside of the single instance against MSU. It drove several people crazy that it wasn't tried more often, considering that McNutt was actually a frickin QB early in his career.

Recovered onside kick, September 24,2011 vs Louisiana Monroe (*CMU 2012)
Attempted onside Kick November 17, 2012 at Michigan
Non QB pass, Marvin Mcnutt 2010
RB pass, Damion Sims 2004
Fake Punt, David Bradley 2001

Atleast to the best of my memory, many of the others were already mentioned.

Let's not get crazy here. I'd settle for a QB that isn't afraid to throw it more than 2-3 yards. Life in the fast lane, I know.

Don't know, but I'm guessing Iowa lost most, if not all, of the games when they attempted these gimmick plays.

Trickeration is typically not a recipe for success, contrary to the game-day opinions of many on this board.

Execute simple things properly and you shall have an opportunity to win.

I may be nuts, but that's beside the point.
You may be recollecting the plays that worked. I remember them trying the end around pass with McNutt a few times. In fact every time they tried it, I thought why. Just because he used to be a QB, doesn't mean the play was going to work. Most times it didn't.

Two other times off the top of my head:
McNutt in OT vs. Iowa State in '11.
Dominique Douglas in the 4th quarter vs. Texas in the '06 Alamo Bowl.

Please list all of those instances. Should be pretty easy if it happened as often as you say it did.

When was the last time on a kick off return where the whole return team formed a circle and disguised who had the ball? Answer that you chicken shite bastards????
