I understand all too well that KF is not a master of communication, but as HC he owes it to his team to let them know his plans as to his final season as HC. Since he has made no public overture of his plans, and the fact that many freshman are red-shirted their first year, it is entirely possible that he intends to coach at least another 5 seasons, maybe more, given his latest contract extension. But if that's true, does BF need (or want) another 5 seasons or more wearing his dad's training wheels?
I apologize to those who still feel KF is getting the job done, but unfortunately I am not in that camp. I have absolutely no interest in seeing the current staff continue for another 5 seasons, or more. The Iowa Football program is not the exclusive property of the Ferentz family, to bequeath as they see fit. If GB wants to view himself as an effective AD, he must have already had that conversation with KF, and if he hasn't, he needs to be terminated immediately because he would be derelict in performing one of his key responsibilities. However, given GB's subservient role to KF, it would not surprise me at all to see GB retire before having that conversation with KF; effectively walking away, leaving the next AD to deal with it.
BF has had almost 2 seasons now at the OC helm, and in my view, his results are mixed, at best. Think about the OSU game last year; by far and away the Hawkeyes best game of the season, but where was BF? Oh, I seem to recall he was suspended for that game after his meltdown in the previous week's game against Minnesota. So, we must ask the question: Just how much did BF contribute to that historical win? Is it possible that the team played better in his absence?
As I stated at the beginning, expecting any clear communication from KF on this subject is about as remote as the Hawks running a hurry up spread offense and averaging 40 points/game. But it is time for KF to reveal his plans, at least what he is tentatively planning on doing because the team needs to know what to expect. After all, if you have no idea what your plans are, it's pretty hard to execute them successfully.
